My husband and I were wondering about the folks on the island. He thought they might hunker down and ride it through but I was pretty sure they'd evacuate them. Glad they've been taken to safety!
Three words....Rainforest Spa Pass! That is like heaven on earth when it's not too crowded. If you have late seating for dinner go around 4 or 4:30 and you'll have the place to yourself. On the Fantasy you can lie on the heated chaises and watch the world go by. I love sea days more than being...
Just got back from a fabulous 7-night cruise to the Eastern Caribbean on the Disney Fantasy.:( In fact, I'm still feeling the rocking of the ship. The best way to recover is to relive it via a trip report. By the way, I will include pictures. I still need to get all of them uploaded but wanted...
We did this excursion on our October 2013 cruise. It was fun. It's not a huge facility but you do get to see how they make the chocolate. They then usher you into a room where you get to learn to make your own chocolate candy with different fillings. That was fun and messy! The kids loved it. At...
Holy majoly! Just came to the realization that mosquitoes are a problem in Alaska, especially if on an excursion near water. I was looking at various packing lists and saw bug spray with DEET mentioned several times. Here's a link with more info on that situation...
Just ordered a few goodies to be delivered to our stateroom. The last time we sailed I ordered the Sweet Welcome and an Elegant Farewell, which is a bottle of Martini & Rossi Asti Spumante awaiting us in our cabin on embarkation and a bottle of Korbel Brut Champagne for our last night at sea...
Here we are 3 weeks until we sail, less than 3 weeks before we fly out. We've been so busy with the end of school year and graduation that now we're frantically looking for gaps in what we need so we can get our orders into Amazon. Winter gear is clearly out of the stores now so I've gone online...
It took some time but we finally agreed on our three. They are:
* Skagway - White Pass Railroad & Skagway Streetcar (Blake and his wife did this one and really enjoyed it)
* Juneau - Mendenhall Glacier Float Trip
* Ketchikan - Lighthouse, Totem, and Eagles
By the way, I'm glad you asked this...
I had the same thought. We've been focused on packing for cold temps but I haven't focused so much on rain gear. In Colorado we don't get much rain so we'll need to get some extra umbrellas and some of us need rain jackets.
A good friend from our first DCL cruise sailed to Alaska last May and sent me a letter (paper, envelope, stamp!) with a summary of the trip and some good tips. I'll share here as I had not seen some of this info before.
Blake's Tips
1. If the ship slows way down, typically this is an indicator...
Hi Mo! We're not doing FE this time. We participated in our last 2 cruises but for those I had all summer to prepare. This time around it's been such a crazy school year and there's no way I could be ready in a few weeks. But don't think I didn't consider it! ;-)
As of this posting, my family and I are 29 days from leaving Denver to where we'll eventually board the Disney Wonder in Vancouver for a 7 night Alaskan cruise.
On this trip are my husband BJ, son Michael (14), daughter Catie (11) and yours truly, Catherine. This will be our 3rd...
Today the Disney Wonder leaves Miami and the east coast to head west for the summer Alaskan cruises! Here's a link to watch her leave today if you see this in time: http://portmiamiwebcam.com/
Hi cruisers! Has anyone started packing? I think we're finally done with winter weather here in Denver so I'm washing winter coats this weekend and then pulling together our inventory of hats, gloves and scarves to see if we're missing anything. I typically over pack but the cold weather...
Well, the trip must be getting closer. I'm having cruise dreams. Which now has me thinking about packing. We have what I hope will be our last snow storm in Denver. Then I want to get all our coats cleaned. We've lost gloves this winter so I'll likely have to get on Amazon or eBay to get new...
Hello all! I had posted several months ago and then thought we'd have to cancel. However, we finally confirmed a week before final payment that this trip is a go! Can we leave tomorrow? LOL
My husband BJ and I are traveling with our 14 year old son, Michael and 11 year old daughter Catie...
