High School Class of 2016/College Class 2020

I'm late to check in here. My DS headed back on Aug 20. This year was a big change for us, after four years of my older son going to a school close to home and driving this son out to campus last year, for the first time ever we put our son on a plane with two suitcases and a kiss goodbye. It...

    Is this stealing?

This! So many hands come in contact with that produce, I always take it home and wash it thoroughly before we eat it. Besides being gross, it's also stealing.

High School Class of 2016/College Class 2020

My DS was home for a week in mid May before he headed off to London to study abroad for six weeks. He landed in London the day before the Manchester attack, needless to say this has been nerve wracking for me. But, he's living the dream and not letting any opportunity go to waste, so I'm happy...

How many times do you use

I wash the bath towels when I deep clean the bathroom, which is on my days off or my late night days. It comes out to once every fourth or fifth day. I feel like washing too often makes them thin and threadbare faster and since we're clean when we use them, why spped the wearing process on them?

    Does (Store-Bought) Salsa Go Bad?

I think I have to agree with you here (just a bit). I read an article recently about the FDA possibly changing the standards on food code dating due to the amount of food that gets wasted and ends up in the trash though it is still good to eat. Some items with sell by dates boggle my mind...

    Does (Store-Bought) Salsa Go Bad?

It's a mindset I'll never grow out of. When I hear the cap pop, I start to believe the clock is ticking on the lifespan. Taking ServSafe classes for work got me this way, learning about foodborne pathogens grossed me out. Another mindset I am attached to is the sell by date on milk. Many...

    Does (Store-Bought) Salsa Go Bad?

If refrigerated it should be fine. Salsa will grow mold, even refrigerated, when it goes bad (embarrassed to admit how I learned that) but if not refrigerated I'd throw it out after a day.

Here is a strategy: Dont bring all of your belongings into the parks

Ever since I started going bagless it's been so much easier. Sunglasses on, phone in pocket, camera in another pocket, and magic band and I am good to go. In the cooler months, a hoodie on or tied around my waist and I am set. I've never wished I had taken anything else. I think the next time...

    Another Airport Overreaction?

I saw the short version of the video and only skimmed the article. If this is true then I question the mother's claim of "special needs" and tend to think it was "special needs of the moment" because she would say anything to make this into a bigger issue than it should have been. Every special...

What is something your parents told you that you follow their advice?

My mom always said "you don't spit in the air, because it comes right back down in your face" What she meant was, don't talk about how other people do things- such as raise their kids, earn their pay, keep their house, etc- because you may be doing the same thing you are judging them for, or...

Traveling to NYC with snow in forecast

It can be done. And NYC is pretty magical in the snow. Keep in mind that with the subway system below the streets, there are very few places where snow sticks and accumulates due to the heat underground. Since public transportation rarely shuts down, and we have a huge sanitation department to...

    How do you pronounce "aunt"?

Ant- I'm from New York City and that's the only way I heard it pronounced until I got to college and heard people say ah-nt. I also grew up around a lot of people who called their aunts ti-ti (Spanish) and ah-zi (Italian) so the ah-nt/ant debate was less likely to happen. I don't know about the...

Epcot Flower and Garden Fest questions...

Gift cards are an easier way to control costs. You put a preset amount on a gift card and use it for all of your purchases. And by sheer will power you will stop spending when you use up the gift card (or leave all your cash and credit cards home, lol) My DH and I tried something we never do...

Checking in Early or Not for Best Room?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the very big variable of online check in and skip the front desk. For as long as this has been offered (two or three years, I think) I have used it. I check in online when it becomes available and request a room ready text. I use ME and I always note my actual...

Do you see Ocean life from ship?

I've seen dolphins and flying fish from our balcony. It's not a given, out of eight cruises I've only seen them on about three cruises. It's a matter of looking from the right side of the ship at the right time. An Alaskan cruise is on my bucket list, I'd love to spot whales and to be sailing...

    Don't understand. Please explain...

I love the storm troopers marching. I can't wait to go back at the end of the month so my husband can see it. He stayed back at the hotel last trip and missed it. He loves Star Wars, and seeing the storm troopers march in military formation will make him go all fan girl for a few minutes...
