Celebration Supper at the Campsite: Recipes Needed

I second the steak and potatoes, but that calls for wine and mushrooms and maybe asparagus as side dishes :)

    Tent Camping

I also have a “Deluxe Camp Kitchen” from Bass Pro Shops and while I have not used it at FW, it has been wonderful at State Parks. It keeps the picnic table from being too cluttered and makes cooking and cleaning a breeze. I usually only take it for a 3-day or longer camptout, though, as it is...

Appliances to add to packing list

I love the electric rice cooker. I have also cooked eggs and sausage for breakfast, hamburger or hot dog for lunch, and stir fry for dinner in it. Ours has a non-stick surface and is compact but holds enough for two or three. We like to make the rice while setting up the pop up, then dump a...

    Camping mishaps...

Give me a break....I'm blonde, LOL. My daughter and I put together a wanna-be pop up from a kit. It is basically a utility trailer that transforms into a pop up when the tent portion is erected on it. I was leaving the campground to go home and someone came running after me to say my rear...

A Small DIS Camping Meet Occurred Tonight

Hope you were joking about the armadillo...only critter known to carry leprosy that can be passed to humans...well, maybe if you heat it up real good first...? :)

Just booked tent pop up camp! May 2016

Thrift stores and garage sales are inexpensive ways to stock up on camping gear. At our house, when something gets worn, it goes into the camping box and a new replacement is bought for the house :)

    Tablecloths for Square Picnic Tables

My cousin told me to just buy the oil cloth in the pattern I like at Walmart and cut it to size (she used pinking shears for that). You could do several sizes and use a few together depending on which campground you stay in.

    Pop up camper or RV

We rented a pop up from Fort Camper Rental in August 2013 and never had a problem with the air conditioner not keeping it cool enough. It was me and 3 recent graduates and the only thing about the pop up was one of the guys was a tosser-turner sleeper and it shook us all when he changed...

    18 day trip tips

We give each person a different colored towel (and same colored cup) so they don't have to wonder which drink is theirs or which towel. We also double the recipes for cassaroles in the weeks before the camp out and freeze half. These act as extra ice for keeping the cooler cold. When thawed...

    Campground Etiquette?

Don't make noise during Quiet Time hours. Loud voices and slamming of cupboard doors can be heard through your neighbors tent material....all your neighbors will know who you are and what you are doing, LOL. I think anyone cutting through another site should be shot...or at least hosed down :)

    Heater recs for tents?

We just brought along the electric space heater from our bathroom and it worked fine (in addition to electric blankets). The heater kept us from seeing our breath in the morning and made getting dressed more comfy. It also added a warm ambiance when it rained.

    Pre TR | 2 tents & 17 days

We loved our cots when tent camping, too. Scientific types argue that these are colder due to air mass beneath you while you sleep, but with electric blankets, egg crate pads, and a small electric space heater, we never noticed. Plus we had great space beneath the cot to put the shower...

    Husband is a party pooper...

Or you could show him the info re renting an RV at FW (the rental company sets it up and takes it down for you). Then he could choose between flying down and renting one or he will probably say, "Heck, we have our own RV, it would be cheaper to just do it ourselves." Remind him that you...

Sirenia 88's LTR "Mickey we have a modem"

I did FW once in August....never again. Major thunderstorms daily. Monsoon rains. Air so thick with humidity you can barely breathe. Note to self: try November or April next time.
