    Maine for vacation?

Oh and depending how far up you are, you could drive over to NH mountains and do Santa's Village or StoryLand. Your kids are perfect ages. We prefer Santa's Village.

    Maine for vacation?

Plenty to do with kids! Beaches, restaurants, waterparks, children's museums....Maine has it all. Kennebunkport is delightful as is Ogunquit. There are waterparks nearby (Funtime Splashtown is one). York has York's Wild Kingdom. Portland is a GREAT city. You can take a boat ride across to...

Question for any teachers here on the Dis

You need to start applying and GET a long-term sub job. Who is getting those jobs where you sub and why isn't it you? That's where many full-time jobs come from. They get a chance to see you in action for more than a day. They get to see your discipline skills, planning skills and how you...

    Baby Shower Help!

How about quiches and a big green salad? Cruise pinterest. Also some blogs (Pioneer Woman) have some great, easy crockpot or hot appetizers. I think heavy, hot appetizers are fine. I'd prefer that. But if you want to be safe have some sandwiches or even meatballs and rolls...

    New England Vacation 2015

I live in NH now...but I'm not originally from the area. Something people didn't mention but Acadia is quite a hike up the coast in Maine. It looks close but it isn't. It is beautiful though! Maine: I <3 Ogunquit. I could stroll the Marginal Way all day. Love climbing the rocks at the...

    My poor neighbor!

My father also thought he never had chicken pox....until he got shingles. Lyrica was the only thing that worked for him. He said it was awesome.....not a care in the world. He was very depressed before that from the pain. Worth mentioning

What is Going On With My Dog??

My bichon had similar issues. It was so sad. Doggie anti-depressants helped some but we eventually put her to sleep. She was falling down the stairs, peeing all over and was miserable. They are very smart dogs. Sad to see them fade!

    "American" gifts

My family still comes to shop for Levis/jeans, Columbia/North Face, and Victoria's Secret. LOL! They still love American booze and cigarettes!

    "American" gifts

I have family in Europe. I would stay away from anything with "USA" on it. The USA isn't so popular overseas. Kids are more likely to like shirts with characters or from a city like NYC. Candy is popular at all ages. It is a special treat and can be saved for when it is appropriate...

Road bike riders - love my new bike but my butt hurts

There are specialized seats for women ( and men) to ease comfort of certain tender areas. You might want to look into that. But proper seat height with proper bend in the knee really goes a long way as well. Are you clipped in? Try to go longer/more miles. I find that I don't even...

Road bike riders - love my new bike but my butt hurts

You aren't riding long, far or often enough to "toughen" up. It will take awhile. And it always hurts a little. I hurt more in the woman area than the butt though...it depends on your position. Your weight should be a little more forward. If it is really painful my guess is the fit is...

Where to move? What would you do?

I didn't have time to read the whole thread but I wanted to make a couple of points: 1. This is the dreariest, longest winter in a long time up here in NH. Normally I start running outside in Feb. I've run a couple of times outside this year. I am sooo far behind in my training because...

Found out about affair right before Disney

Do it. Life is too short. You know what? This sucks. It does. It feels like your world is ending but even though you don't believe it now you will smile and laugh again and what better way to do it than at Disney!! We "tried" Disney for one day before I was divorced. My kids and I...

    Are all men picky daters?

OP - you asked for someone who has real online dating experience to weigh in. I have a lot of experience with this, however I'm divorced and older than you. That being said, I live in a small state and options are limited. But I have been on a bunch of dates and had 3 relationships, including...

    Are all men picky daters?

I'm confused. He's seeing someone or not? How far away does he live? Friends is one thing but if he is seeing someone don't get your hopes up! You don't want to be with a man who juggles multiple women or leads someone (either of you) along. Distance can be a huge factor in a...

Help me help my 92 year old MIL.

This. Also what's her favorite meal? "Hi Mom, we're making lasagna this weekend and I need your help to make it and eat it!!" ;) You could also say that her son insists. Most moms won't say no to that!

summer vacation ideas -- any suggestions?

How about driving up to NH/Maine. There is so much to do up here and golf or laying on a beach doesn't have to be part of it at all! Lighthouses, shopping, historic sights. So much to see and do!

Gotta make plans next Christmas Eve

Just wanted to send you hugs! It is hard but it does get better and you will find a way through or around it!! It's been 5 years for me and the last year was pretty awful. Making matters worse is I lost my mom 3 years ago and have a pretty small family to begin with so the festive big...

    Celebrities you've met

I've met a bunch of minor basketball and football players from the Nets, Giants, etc. years ago. I've also met all of the political candidates (both parties) from the past 3 elections including Pres. Obama and V.Pres. Biden. But my favorite is Bruce Springsteen in a small club and yes...
