Closest DL Hotel with a Kitchenette+ECV? (Choice MADE)

Adding a reply for anyone still looking for hotels -- we're booked at the Clementine Hotel; it has kitchenettes for all rooms plus free parking and breakfast. It's supposed to be a 10 - 15 minute walk from the parks. Will post a review when we return after our trip in April!

April 2024 May 2024 check in thread & after dark events

April 1 - 4, staying at Clementine Hotel. Travelling with my soon-to-be 16 year old daughter for spring break; she's looking forward to character meals at Goofy's Kitchen and Storytellers Cafe and I can't wait for Oga's Cantina

Bath and Body Works Black Friday

They usually have the bag available online as well as in stores, so that's where I usually go (while sitting at home in my pjs).

How do you decide to pass things down

I second this idea -- if there is something that you know you would like to give to a certain person, please go ahead and give it to them now. My parents started giving away things, here and there, to each of their kids and grandkids several years before they passed away. Less stuff to clean...

What are good prices for Playmobil?

There are some Playmobil advent calendars on sale at Amazon now for less than $30 -- they all look cute.

    Some Parents...

This. My daughter is in K this year and it's such a relief not to scramble around for letter items. We always got the luck of the draw with letters like Q (or I).

Planning a trip to Sleepy Hollow next year...

Stop at the Union Church in Pocantico Hills, near Tarrytown. Gorgeous stained glass windows by Matisse and Chagall. http://triphoney.com/2011/matisse-chagall-stained-glass-art

    You ever notice?

For me, it's The Princess Bride. Not watch it when it's on t.v.? Inconceivable.

Bad Songs or Songs You Hate (Spinoff)

John Mayer's "Waiting on the World to Change". Ugh, if the world is so awful, get up off your behind and start changing it now! Or at least don't just sit there singing that stupid song.

    Spinoff- older moms

My kiddies came along when I was 36 and 40. "Life begins at 40" came true for me!

    Halloween: Taking a year off?

I guess we're lucky -- it's still like this in my neighborhood (well, except for last year, when Hurricane Sandy stole Halloween). We get 200 - 250 kids trick-or-treating, mostly under age 12 but some teens too, but 90% wear a costume and 95% say thanks. We do have to buy a LOT of candy to...

RIPT apparel - Malificent & Evil Queen t-shirt

I just had to order a shirt. Funny, I can still remember having nightmares as a kid about Maleficant, now she's one of my faves. Looking forward to the new movie about her (but I definitely can't take my 5 yr old DD to it).

    Kids' First Words

My daughter's first word was "baby". She would say it when she cried, I guess so we would know exactly who was crying! Her second word was "Diego", from the Go Diego Go show. "Mama" came a distant third. Not sure if it was his first word, but my son's most frequent word for quite a while...

Going to see Depeche Mode in concert

OH! OH! OH! So very, very, very jealous now. I saw The Cure ages ago (at the height of their fame) and would love to see them again. Never got to see DM. Or U2. That's the only thing better than a concert with The Cure & DM -- one with The Cure, DM and U2, as they were mid-80s -early 90s.

    Ticked off!

I'm ticked off because the person looking for holiday sweaters has not even thought of checking a thrift shop. I know they have tons of holiday sweaters ALL. THE. TIME. Where else do those sweaters end up every year?

    15th anniversary gift

Happy 15th! We're celebrating #15 next year. And you could always go the giant metal chicken route http://thebloggess.com/2011/06/and-thats-why-you-should-learn-to-pick-your-battles/ (A note of caution -- some foul language included at the link.)

    Holiday Exchanges!

Oops, I checked in too late for the Halloween exchange, but I would love to join in the Thanksgiving exchange. That's one of my favorite holidays!

For the future - Pet stocking exchange!

Sounds fun! My Tiger (dog) would love to join in. When he sees a squirrel, he thinks he really is a tiger.

    Large Group Halloween Parade Ideas?

Since this is The Dis . . . . How about a Disney theme? Everyone dress as their favorite character, make a cardboard castle for the float. Harry Potter? All the kids wear black gowns (like graduation gowns) and scarves in house colors, adults can be the teachers or other witches/wizards...
