Would you do a Disney Cruise with no Kids?

June Mediterranean will be 2nd DCL w/o kids. When DS was 11 he told me after our 5th DCL Cruise that it was fun but felt a little babyish. Fair enough. So we went over to Royal Caribbean for the next several cruises. 8 years later DS was in college, on his own and I was the one who missed DCL,so...

6-night Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona to Rome June 8, 2019

DW and I, mid-50’s, just us- DS last cruised DCL in 2007. This will be our first time to Europe, flying Delta from ATL. We’re Gold level, this will be 7th DCL, after Alaska 2015 and 5 others in Bahamas and Caribbean when DS was younger ‘02-‘07. All on Magic and Wonder. Arriving Friday morning in...

June 8, 2015 Alaskan cruise on the Wonder

Hi, DW and I, our DS just started college and we haven't been on DCL since he was eleven and let us know afterward that he thought he'd gotten a little too old for DCL, and we switched over to RCI for several cruises. We were in our 30's when we first boarded the Wonder, and now we're in our...

where to stay on the road to port canaveral

Here's another vote for Titletown, USA (as voted on ESPN), Valdosta, GA on I-75, based upon its distance from Port Canaveral. There was a failry new Hampton Inn and Conference Center, and I've also had a few meals in the Cracker Barrel. For a road-side stopover, Valdosta will do just fine...

    solid white wall verandah??

We got a similar upgrade on Wonder in January 2005, from cat. 8 to what was listed as a cat. 5 (because of the deck we were on), #7132, with a solid wall. That was our first balcony ever, and while it was nice to go outside, not being able to see down through the solid wall made it a limited...

What is the longest ahead of time you have planned a cruise.

I've "planned" three years in advance (as in, let's see, I can accumulate points on my NCL Mastercard for 3 years before they start to expire, so I'll accumulate the maximum discount amount for 3 years and then use that discount to book a cruise on NCL. Thus in 2007 did I determine what I would...

    Innovative New Ship Features

Interesting to see what will eventually be on the two new ships--I think all of us who love Disney and the standards of excellence we have come to expect from Disney want to think the ships will be a superior vessel and vacation/cruise experience, but I do have to recognize that Royal Caribbean...

    chocolate covered strawberries

I have seen the chocolate covered strawberries out for the taking as late night snacks outside Promenade Lounge on deck 3 on embarkation night. We frequently made sure a plate of them would be waiting in our room as a pre-ordered room gift along with champagne or asti spumante.

Is DCL really worth the extra $$$$$$$$$

Is Disney worth it? Yes. At least once. You can always pay less. I am a divorce lawyer, and after 5 DCL cruises I recommend to clients to use the visitation we fight for in court to go on a DCL cruise because it is truly QUALITY, happy time as a family. Priceless, you know?

Can you recommend a good book for my cruise???

Agree totally. For something heavier but also a good read and a page turner, I saw someone else already suggested my other fave, and a very different series, the Kay Scarpetta novels by patricia cornwell. But the Evanovich Plum series are light and fun and tie in so well with the happiness of...

    Worth $1,000 more!

Curious--which RCI ship(s) were you on? I think you have a typo--you meant there were barely ANY kids on board, right? Are you saying that as a negative thing--it could be a positive for some. Not trying to pick a fight--each person's values and interests--and palate!--dictate which cruise...

Has anyone taken fitness classes on their cruise?

Q: Has anyone taken fitness classes on their cruise? A: No. No one has ever done that. Sorry, a wise-*ss answer, its Friday.

    How does Shutters work?

Q: How Does Shutters Work? A: Not very efficiently. This is an area where DCL has a huge opportunity to use available technology to achieve a serious upgrade in quality and responsiveness and, likely, customer satisfaction. Hopefully on the new ships, if not on the Magic and Wonder.

    Seating Questions...would you be uncomfortable?

To OP, I think if you search you can find other similar threads, I can recall similar discussion questions. Of course you would prefer not to hide the fact that you are a couple--the straight couples don't have to. In our family we feel all are welcome--except Florida Gator fans.

    Royal Caribbean Fans?

Grandeur is not going to be as high a quality level of ship as Magic/Wonder, but that said, it should be a pleasant and enjoyable vacation. We have done 5 RCI cruises, 4 since 1/2006 with another in 3 1/2 weeks, and 5 DCL cruises since 2002, most recently May 27-30, 2007, or about 6 weeks...

    Disney Rewards Card

one of the reasons I booked excursions through DCL instead of independently was so that my Disney Visa Rewards could go towards paying those excursions. Just applied over $500 to excursions, Palo, DW's spa, and tips in May, and on a previous Magic cruise through DU, I was able to pay over a...

    Basketball onboard

DS, 11, lives on the basketball court for all cruises we take. And the most recent DCL cruise a month ago on the Wonder was a real let down. Here's why: In the two years since we had been on DCL, they added a net over the top of the basketball court, thus eliminating his favored heaves from...

If you had to choose and why

The weather in my area is still very nice in September & October, often downright hot, so I don't NEED the pick me up of a warm location and the happiness of a Disney cruise until the winter Blahs set in. Yes, January has been cooler in the Bahamas than I might have wished on some previous...

Pirate Night on 4 Night Wonder Thankgiving Cruise?

What night will be Pirate Night on the 11/21/2007 4 night Wonder cruise that will include Thanksgiving (for those of us from the U.S. anyway--want to be respectful of our Canadian neighbors to the north and others as well)? Also--would the sample Thanksgiving menus from 2003 & 2004 on Barb &...

Other than CC, what is your favorite and least favorite port of call? Why?

st. maarten is a favorite of ours, convenient great bay beach by taking the water taxi or the well marked and organized taxi stand to get to orient beach, or DW had convenient and excellent shopping on front street. we also liked costa maya, which we visited on RCI, and loved a half-day mayan...
