What are the closest off-site hotels to Universal?

Well you can get the Doubletree Universal for $71 per night which is the closest offsite. I have stayed there about 12 times and its always been fantastic. That would be my recommendation anyway.

    Showing ID?

I was 32 when i first went to Orlando and got asked a few times for ID. Since turning 40 I havent been asked but once when me and a friend went to Pleasure Island (I was 38 he was 45) and we both got asked! he even has a beard! The strangest one I ever saw was in Chicago airport where a guy...

    Doubletree At Universal Studio?

Staye din this hotel about 10 times now and love its close location to Universal. The road crossing is a bit daunting at first but have never found it not working just that the cycle time can seem forever, especially on a morning when they give priority to the traffic going along Kirkman Road...

    Costco/Citywalk Question

Cant answer about the ticket question but you can eat at any of the restaurants without an entry fee. Obviously as well if you are already in there when the band is on eg. Margaritaville then you can just stay and watch after eating. Latin Quarter is probably my favorite as its something...

    DoubleTree Hotel opinions

Stayed here about 12 times now over the last 6 years. Last time was last October. Always loved the place for the location to Universal and always got the price at about $60 per night which is a bargain. The hotel has been pretty much fully refurbished and the new rooms are fantastic. I would...

    Downtown Disney Cinema

Havent been to the AMC at PI but have been to a couple in the US on other trips. They are basically the same as here. The seats are maybe a little wider and the drinks holder is big enough for one of those super size cups but apart from that any modern VUE or AMC cinema over here is basically...

    Help overcoming jet lag

I would agree with everyone saying keep active when you get there. Personally I think the worst thing you can do is sleep, if you are not careful you will sleep for a few hours and this will completely mess your body clock up. Last time I was in Orlando an English family were on the I ride...

Grand Canyon Tours from Las Vegas

I flew with Sundance Helicoptors in 2000 and they were fantastic. I did the champagne breakfast flight which included pick up from the hotel in a limo, flight to the canyon (circling the Hover dam) then landing on a plateau within the canyon for a fresh fruit and champagne breakfast. The flight...

    Travel to Busch Gardens

Ive always just booked the day in advance after checking the next day forecast. With 8 you might be best calling them a couple of days early though.

    Travel to Busch Gardens

The shuttle departs from the Mecardo on I drive at about 8:30am and gets to Busch for about 10:00. I have used it numerous times even though I had a car as its much more relaxing especially on the way back after a day in BG. There isnt a choice of pick up times it just depends on the time of...

    Touring plan for Busch

No you have to buy the ticket before you get on the bus, best to do it earlier in the day to avoid any queues late on. If you have 14 day flex tickets then the shuttle is free but you still need to get a ticket from guest services, you just show your flex ticket and they give you one for free...

What's Your Favorite @ Tchoup Chop?

The salmon was the best id ever tasted (medium) was just amazing! last time 3 of us had the chefs menu and this was fantastic also, added the wine option to it as well and to be honest was a little dissapointed by how much you got especially with what is the main course. Less than half a glass...

    Touring plan for Busch

Sheikra is over the far side of the park and usually the busiest although Rhino Rally is always the busiest due to such slow loading. When I have been to BG (over 20 times in 6 years) I have always found it to be quiet up until mid afternoon when you can get more locals arriving. It does depend...

    Jazz anywhere??

CityJazz at Citywalk is more by name than actual music content. They have comedy on most nights with Herb Williams playing from about 9:30 I think. He is more a mix of pop and soul than anything jazz. They do sometimes have special ticketed shows on a weekend and you might find jazz then.

    Busch Gardens - Halloween specials?

I have been for the last 2 years and also think that it is better than HHN. Its not as slick in the houses but they do a better job of trying to get you. I have only been made to flinch once in HHN but had quite a few at Busch. Last year they also did the shuttle from Orlando especially for the...

Getting very very nervous about hotel....help

Stayed at this hotel over 10 times in the last 5 years, first when it was the Radisson. My main reason for staying there is the ability to walk to Universal. I have always found the hotel excellent. Rooms have been clean and large (come to England if you want to see a small hotel room and pay...

    Changing British currency in USA

About 7 years ago when I first went to Orlando my aunt and uncle swore by taking sterling (they had never been to the US) even though everyone at home said dont do it in the USA. When my aunt went to try change some cash in a bank they said "no" and actually said there were only 2 banks in...

    I Drive Trolley and Seaworld

Yes the trolley goes to Seaworld but it does take quite a long time. (about 30 mins from Wet & Wild) I have normally got the I ride to Seaworld and then got a cab back on a night.

    Driving to/from New York

A friend and me did Virginia to Cleveland a couple of years back (partof a theme park tour) before flying from Cleveland to Orlando. Its about 400 miles and we thought it would be nice to see some of the scenery. If you like trees then its great! It was tedious to the extreme and you also have...

    Haunted Lighthouse at Seaworld SD?

The show is the same as the one at Busch Gardens. Its not scary scary. Actually I found it quite dull but im sure some people like it! There is no theming at Busch for the queue area so I wouldnt expect much at SD either. My recommendation would be to do it if you have done everything else you...
