When I was on the Dream this last summer they had an area by the pools roped off and they were sanding/refinishing the deck. Maybe some if it is wood and some is cement??? :not sure

I somehow doubt that sending kids to eat alone in the MDR is about teaching their kids anything. I think it's a matter of keeping reservations at Palo or Remy and nothing as grand as a life lesson.

My definition of parenting includes proper supervision of my children on vacation, at home and anywhere else we are. Clearly not everyone feels its their job to supervise their own children. Laziness under the guise of "letting children experience life." :rolleyes

No. In my experience the concierge floor is pretty quiet. I only have experience with deck 12 on the Dream but I think it was quieter than other areas. HTH

It is! Just pick it up when you get off the tram before they take you in the golf cart to your cabana. Enjoy!

Since they are the same hosts (concierge and cabana) we just took our cabana days into account when deciding on our tip at the end of the cruise. So we just tipped once.

Interesting. Many people affected by the Beaches closure reported being moved to other resorts on the island. I've never heard of an entire island being "closed".

We've looked at Beaches Turks and Caicos recently. According to some reviews in trip advisor the resort was closed in June 2012 due to a virus. To be honest when I read about this and the way it was handled by the resort I was totally turned off. I know illness is always a possibility with...

To clarify there is NO automatic tipping for concierge hosts. An envelope is provided and as many PP have mentioned you can add cash to the envelope or visit GS and add a tip to your account. Of course this is all optional. I'm not sure why this is such a confusing topic...

Not sure where you are traveling from but the Canadian government recommends having a notarized letter (form available online) when traveling without one parent. I brought one when traveling to the US (Cruise on dream) and it was checked by customs when leaving and re entering Canada. HTH

Yes. I would say most are cruise casual and a few will dress up in pirate attire.

You will get $40 of free wifi as a concierge guest. It was a little hit and miss on the dream (logging in was a bit of a pain). I was able to FaceTime on several occasions though.

There IS a pirate buffet at Cabanas on the Dream. It starts quite late though, around 10:30 pm if I remember correctly.
