Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

I don't know if this is the course map for 2014. The description is for the 2012 race and the map is from the 2013 race. Also, based on the comment dates it isn't a new map. Last year the course maps and waivers were released on 12/19 and the corral assignments were released on 12/27. It...

Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Keep in mind that the corral numbers and time requirements are based on the estimated finish times for that specific race. The wine and dine corrals are much different and may be closer to what is used for Tink.

This is the corral placements for the 2013 Disneyland half. The Tink corrals should be similar. I just noticed they spelled Disneyland wrong.

GET Travel Tickets 2 Day - $185 3 Day - $210 Disney normally offers discounted tickets for January. They are a little more thane the GET travel tickets, but they include the early admission. The GET travel tickets don't include any extras.

Like others have said the sweepers start after the last person crosses the start line which is normally Jeff Galloway and he takes his time so he is not right behind the last runner/walker. A group of my friends were passed by the sweepers when they were in the parks, but they sped up once...

Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

This is the training schedule I would suggest: Week Miles Type 1......8.......Build-up 2......9.......Build-up 3......10......Build-up 4......7.......Step-back 5......12......Build-up 6......6.......Taper The minimum training distance to successfully complete a half is 8 miles. Since...

Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

It's pretty crowded for that time of the year. After Monday the crowds are pretty light. The good thing about the holiday weekend is the park hours for Sunday and Monday are about the same as Friday and Saturday.

    Tinker Bell ½ Marathon Weekend ~ 2014 Check-in!

We had no problem picking up the tickets at the expo. but don't forget to pick them up like we did. We had done everything and were heading back to the hotel when we remembered we had to get the tickets.

    Tinker Bell ½ Marathon Weekend ~ 2014 Check-in!

One thing to keep in mind about hydration belts/packs or just using aid station depends on how fast or slow you are. If you are a faster runner you can get away without carrying water, but if you are slower it could be a problem. It's up to you, but my suggestion would be to get one of the...

Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Keep an eye on the race since it does tend to sell out really fast. it sold out on Jan 3rd this year. I joined half fanatics last year and qualified by doing two halfs within 9 days. If you do three in 90 days you will qualify. By doing Tink and Shamrockn you would need to do one more by...

Definitely Shamrockn'. I have not done Running of the Elk myself, but my wife. son and dughter-in-law have all done it. It is a flat course, but also a very boring course. Shamrockn' starts outside Raley Field and goes through downtown by the Capitol, on the American River Bike Trail, through...

Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Doing multiple halfs that close together isn't much of a problem as long as you have done the proper training and you taper correctly for each half. I did Urban Cow two weeks ago, Folsom this Saturday and the Davis Turkey Trot Half next month. I have done halfs over consecutive weekends and PR'd...

Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Shamrockn is in March so that would be another race to wear the skirt. It's a flat course and I have helped two friends PR over the last two years. The finish line is inside Raley field.

Ideally you should be ingesting about 140 calories per hour. Remember that you are replenishing what your body needs and not replacing what you have used. Many people use gels/sports beans/blocks because they are convenient to carry, but there is no reason you can't use whole foods. Whole...

Check this store - Sacramento Exercise Equipment. They have a wide variety of treadmills. I bought a gym quality elliptical from them for a really good price.

There were a lot of 5K and Half pins at the registers at the Tink expo this year so they do have them there.

    Tinker Bell ½ Marathon Weekend ~ 2014 Check-in!

That is just over a 12 min pace which would be a 2:38 half. That should put you in at least corral D and probably corral C. You should definitely submit the time.

Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

I would suggest doing maintenance training with a range of 6-10 miles alternating between longer and shorter mileage each week. You can also do race rehearsal workouts. The first and last mile while be at your normal training pace or slower and the middle miles will be at your expected race...
