Actually, I'd argue that the demographic is perfect: My generation, the original-trilogy generation, all has kids between 2 and 14 now. If that's not an ideal match in terms of getting (mostly) dads who are making money, and are ready to spend it on their family, excited to go take their kids...

I'd imagine the biggest reason is that they're still not sure of timing. If they're rushing to throw something new in there (good or bad - no judgement here), but they're not ready yet, it makes sense not to commit to a timeframe yet, until they've got a firm handle as to what exactly needs...

Disappointing, but it sounds like there were some issues there behind the scenes. His books are phenomenal, and I highly recommend his books on Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and the Disney Mountains. All are excellent.
