Do You Think Non-Dis Vets are Beginning to Notice Penny-Pinching?

Disney not being able/willing to produce a fabric bag in-house to overcome "supply chain issues" is emblematic of the massive failures of the company. They have seamstresses on staff. There are local seamstresses. Fabric and thread is plentiful. But chasing pennies is more important than...

Disney Genie+ and ILL$ Details & FAQ - Launches 10/19 at WDW, Paid "FastPass" at WDW and Disneyland (date TBD)

We've been lucky in life, we make a ton of money and we aren't afraid to spend it. But the last few changes have priced us out of what we're willing to spend at Disney. We like e-tickets and being in the park at night. For our family of 5, to enjoy the same vacation we had in 2015, we'll have...

Are WDW parks really overflowing with trash?

It's always disheartening to see how many people have been conditioned to excuse and/or defend any decision a corporation makes. $14 an hour part time no benefits with an insane shift availability requirement. That's the problem.

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

They're not gonna open on July 17 and the people who politicize mask wearing are 100% to blame. Everything can go back to "normal" if you just wear a mask. It's science not fear. The rest if the world believes in science. Which is why the international parks are open and us parks aren't...

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

There are so many moving pieces with this plan. I don't think an accurate opening prediction is realistic. I know a lot of you want to be optimistic. I'd start looking at the progress of testing technology. I think an accurate and speedy test that can be mass produced is the place you want...

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

When your flight gets stuck on the tarmac for 4 hours, they never tell you it's going to be a 4 hour delay. If they did people would riot and open the emergency door. They tell you just a few more moments every 15 minutes for however long you're stuck. This quarantine is the same thing...

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

Can Disney profitably run the parks while adhering to social distancing? I'd guess no. It may cost them more to open up and have 25% capacity than to not open at all.

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

Staying closed would definitely help stop the spread of covid. Or are we gonna move into the dead center of the room, but 6 feet away from each other?

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

I could see a fortress Disney with accurate testing. The accountants would love it. Get tested at MCO, bused in on MDE, then you can't leave property for the duration of your trip so you don't bring in infection. No more day trips over to the competition.

    Iger Retirement In Hindsight

Who has the ability to lend Disney up to $80b? Because borrowing against equity is going to cost a lot with the stock price already down and the stock price will go down further as you take on more debt. They'll have near zero cash flow once their movie pipeline dries up. Borrowing to pay...

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

I was referring to the future, if they open it back up. Our testing wasn't robust enough in March to really trace things. But it's getting there now.

    Iger Retirement In Hindsight

I wonder if his flirtation with a presidential run will hurt the company? Can't see getting a lot of federal help from this administration who takes things so personally. Iger going away for good might help with a bailout. Otherwise I fear a bankruptcy and even worse corporate thinking by...

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

Epidemiologists have been tracing the disease all over the world. They're exceptionally good at it. Some huge percent (90%?) of South Korea's cases came from a single carrier going to church and it spreading from there. If you're the Walt Disney Company, how many deaths are you willing to...

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

I said parks (theme), movie theaters, and sporting events.

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

Rolling back some social distancing in some places does not equal packed movie theaters or people standing in 90 minute lines for 7DMT. He also said he hopes for some sense of normalcy in November. 7 months from now. You can't put 5,000 people through character meals everyday until there is...

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

We're not putting 20,000 people in one space until there's a vaccine or a better screening procedure. Taking temperatures doesn't work. A lot of you seem to be in denial about what our future holds. You're not going to a park, movie, or sporting event in 2020. No matter how much you want to.

Apple could buy Disney after pullback

I think the largest individual shareholder of both companies is the same person, Steve Jobs' widow. Or one of the largest. It's a deal that makes sense every way you cut it and has for years.

Looking for a bright spot in all of this

I'm hoping they bring back 3am closing during emh. Crowded spaces aren't going to be attractive to normal people (we're all mad here) for a long time. Discounts are going to be huge for years to come.

If the closure is extended beyond 3/31, when do you think it will be announced?

What's the minimum occupancy needed to make it worth it for them to open the parks? How long will it take to build that occupancy? Because if they need 50% room occupancy, and it takes them 2 months of offers and advertisements to build that occupancy, you're looking at the all clear plus 2...

If the closure is extended beyond 3/31, when do you think it will be announced?

There may be Christmas parties this year, but no MNSSHP. Theme parks will be the absolute last thing to reopen. Thousands of people standing in line is not something the government will allow until the crisis has been fully over for months.
