    *** OFFICIAL January 2013 Thread ***

It's official. We are going Jan 1-6 and are staying at POP. (Feel free to add us to the list.) We are also bringing grandma and grandpa (grandma only went to one park very briefly and this is grandpa's first visit). Should be so fun. We know it will be extremely crowded especially the...

    Tips/Suggestions first week of January?

We were thinking of arriving in WDW on Jan 1. From a touring website, it looks like the parks will be insanely busy on the 1st and 2nd, but more normal busy after that. Any suggestions for strategies on those first days? Should we not try to hit any parks when we arrive on the 1st, or is...

Question for "Ladies of a certain age"

39 here and I've just started this "phase of life.". Guess I'm an early one. Hope that doesn't mean I'm in it for the long haul. Well, if so, I'll get lots of practice adjusting to it. The funny thing is I have two daughters, the oldest of whom is also getting a bit moody. We are both...

    keurig coffee maker ?

I got myB60 on the newegg website during a Thanksgiving Black Friday deal. If you can hold off till then, it probably will be the best time for deals. For pricing, you really have to consider the cost of the k cups. If you drink more than a cup a day, a 18 pack kcup box goes fast. If...

What's the funniest thing a cast member has ever said to you?

Upon entering the park, My daughter (8) asked why they were looking in our bags. "I'm looking for Mickey," said the security guard. Lol silly Mickey for hiding.

So I've got the Disney Craves...

There are lots of great picture threads on this board that I love to look through when I'm missing Disney. Food, resorts, world showcase, gift shops, retro Disney World etc.

    Where to purchase fanny pack?

I got mine from Amazon. Walmart has some also.

AK and DHS on the same day?

Neither. Go to Epcot instead. My 9 year old is an animal lover, but we have a really good zoo at home, too. She loved KS, but nothing else really stuck with them. AK was so much walking. (If you do both AK and HS, bring a stroller). You will lose park time going from one park to...

15 Year Old Dressed as Tinkerbell Not Allowed in AK

It was really the parents who should have handled it differently. I can understand not knowing ahead of time about the rule, but if it was my daughter I would have apologized to Disney and then explained to my daughter that while I understood her disappointment, the rule is there for a reason...

15 Year Old Dressed as Tinkerbell Not Allowed in AK

Correction: I just reread the article (sorry, difficult to go back and forth on my iPad). It said she wanted to make her boyfriend's first visit special, so she dressed up. Can you imagine what the boyfriend is thinking? (My first visit to Disney World, I dress up as Peter Pan for my...

15 Year Old Dressed as Tinkerbell Not Allowed in AK

I'm not surprised the girl cried. My guess is that most 15 year old girls cry at just about everything. (I say this as a mom of two daughters.) That being said, I support Disney's policy on this. I can totally see a 4 year old running up to the girl and wanting a picture. My guess is that...

    Sci-Fi Question

I second the suggestion for the Reuben. If you at all like Reubens, it was quite tasty. Tender, not chewy, meat. Skip the steak. My DH was very disappointed in the steak.

UPDATE 6/14 Our Amazing and Totally Yummy QSDP Quick Service Reviews May 12-19 PICS

Loving the reviews. My husband had said QS was the same across the parks. Can't wait to prove him wrong ;) I love the pics. Really makes the review very clear. It's making me hungry, too. Lol. Those sandwiches at the various bakeries look good. I'm thinking a sandwich with a giant...

    Jersey Shore visit suggestions?

I am visiting my family at the Jersey Shore by myself for a few days. Any suggestions where I should eat, shop, visit? I will be in the Spring Lake/Sea Girt/Manasqan/Pt Pleasant area. I will also have a limited amount of time in Asbury Park. I'll be with my 70 year old parents, and am not...

    Non-Disney Vacation Ideas Needed...

Chicago or Washington DC (we haven't been, but we are thinking about it sometime). Might be more of a shorter trip place. My kids enjoyed Myrtle Beach. Any place with a beach. Why not just go to Disney on the cheap then if everyone wants to go? ;).

new blog: Getting the Royal Treatment at Port Orleans Riverside

Great review! So helpful. The rooms look so cute. It was especially helpful that you mentioned that the Royal rooms were fairly close to the main room. If my family ends up staying at a moderate resort again next visit, I was considering the Royal themed rooms. We are bringing my...

DH said quick service food basically the same throughout the parks

I wondering if part of the problem is that DH (and my kids..and my in-laws) are very picky eaters. My DH is a meat and potatoes guy. Sure, QS really looks the same if you aren't willing to eat a taco, sausage, hummus etc etc. And my youngest is allergic to shellfish (Disney does a great job...

    Post-Disney Depression...how do you deal?

Besides planning my next trip, listening to the podcast, etc, I take local mini outings around town. I took my kids to Disney on Ice right after our vacation. I would like to go to one of the Disney musicals if they come to town. Good time to catch up on your Disney DVDs. I save money for...

DH said quick service food basically the same throughout the parks

While sitting around with DH's family, my husband stated that it really didn't matter where we ate for lunch in Disney World, since quick service food is basically the same throughout the park. His mom, who we are taking with us to Disney World, nodded sagely to this piece of information...

    January 2013 Discounts

We were able to get free dining last year over MLK weekend. We took the kids out of school an extra day before the holiday weekend. Since our check IN day was during the free dining period (just made it), we were able to get free dining during our complete stay.
