If I recall correctly, the drive to the site is 45 min - 1 hr
You never know what may happen - the bus may break down, etc...
I would rather pay more and get an excursion through the cruise line.
Better to pay more for the piece of mind rather than worry about possibly being late and getting...
We have been to Chacchoben ruins through an excursion from Costa Maya.
I liked it. It is not a huge site and a lot of it is still not excavated but there are some cool pyramids to see there.
Tulum is the best ruin site to visit from Cozumel but it does not appear as if Disney offers that excursion. Maybe because you have to travel by boat to mainland and then go on a 45 min bus ride.
We usually spend additional $500-800 after boarding.
These are expenses for things like tips, excursions, bingo, drinks, photos, casino (if the ship you are on has it), etc...Its all up to you.
I don't think it tasted like chicken. I would say more like a regular beef burger but the meat is very chewy and rubbery. We just had to try it for experience. It wasn't bad. If we were to end up at the turtle farm again I would probably get the turtle burger :thumbsup2...
I heard that some of these ruins on the island itself are actually replicas. Is this the case? Last time we were at Cozumel we did Tulum which is inland and thats a real Mayan site. I recommend that. There is a beach there as well - it is very nice and beautiful but just note that there are no...
We did this tour through Carnival. They pick you up and drop you off at the port. Our favorite stop was the turtle farm. They grow them and serve them there :) We got some turtle burgers which was new, different and kind of creepy since you go from holding the cute little turtles to eating them...
A few years ago we had to deal with the fog situation in Galveston. We live nearby and were dropped off. Even though the ships were waiting out in the bay we were allowed to drive up to the terminal. They were also allowing people to check in their bags. We went to the strand which is right...
I am sure this has already been asked before, I just can't find a thread with the answers to all the questions -- We will be taking a 6 night cruise out of Galveston in March. The baby will be 10.5 months old.
What exactly should we bring and what can we have Disney provide us?
I think we...
Having been to both, I liked Tulum more.
The site was nicer and it is right on the beach. You can go down to the beach and swim. It is very nice.
The ride to both is long.
Yes, you do have to take a ferry from Cozumel to main land but we did not have any issues at all. We set outside on the...
We did the Catamaran and Snorkel in Costa Maya this past August.
It was really great. I really like the Costa Maya stop - have been there 3 times. I believe the 2nd largest reef in the world is here...I think.
Costa Maya is not a city or town so if you do snorkeling there they will put you...
Not sure if you already looked here but this maybe helpful.

Port Adventures in Cozumel...
We have been to Costa Maya 3 times and have done the Catamaran and Snorkel tour this past August and it was great. I liked the fact that unlike other places like Cozumel which always has many ships and people in port each day, our ship was the only one in Costa Maya...it was very nice and...
Why do companies take their ships to Europe during the summer?
Do they make more money that way? Disney is doing it. Royal Caribbean takes their ship from Galveston and sends it to Europe in the summer, etc..
You would figure that summer time is when kids are off and more people will go on a...
Where is the cruise going to?
Many Caribbean destinations always show rain. Last Aug we went to Honduras, Belize, and Mexico and there was rain in the forecast every day but when we were there it was sunny, hot and not a drop...
This not an option if you are scheduled to sail for the 1st time.
It's strange that Disney won't incorporate the feature of keeping track of your reservations into the account section once you log in. All other lines seem to have this feature on their sites.
Costa Maya is one of my favorite stops. We have been there several times and there are a lot of interesting excursions there. If you dont see anything you like then yes you might as well stay on board since its not a city/town adn there is nothing to do or go other than the shops on the pier...
Not sure if there is a Galveston thread. Disney has not started sailing from there yet but we live 20 min away and I can tell you that a lot of the hotels offer a free shuttle to the terminal. Galveston is not big so in most cases the travel time from hotel to terminal is just 5-10 minutes.
I...
