Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

You're absolutely right. Obviously many people are happy with their Disney weddings and didn't feel as though they were being taken advantage of. That was not my experience. I certainly don't mean to insult anyone here, I just wanted to let people know that a Disney wedding may not be what...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

I didn't care about the free night. As far as the room block, I was told that it was mandatory for a Disney wedding. Maybe because yours is a VR? I really don't know though, just speculating.

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

It's still high. I also do some event planning for my job, and while the costs are high, they are nothing compared to Disney.

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

    1. That is not what I was told, but I will take your word for it. (And update the original post) 2. I was required to do a room block before I was given a contract. There was no leeway on it. 3. I was not told that lighting or a dance floor was covered by the fee. Also, per my contract...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

I completely agree. This is services marketing. A lot of time will be spent answering questions for people who don't end up choosing a DFTW. That's part of it. I'd be willing to bet that I'm not the only one who has been talked out of a DFTW by DFTW. It is unfortunate that they don't want to...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

I don't recall saying that I wanted to know exactly how much I was going to spend before I put down a deposit. What I wanted was to have more information. Which menu options are available, not just 3 generic options? Which sort of flowers and how much are prices? It isn't impossible to...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

Oh definitely, some people have had great experiences. The WC I was working with actually had pretty good reviews. I was really surprised by the low level of service. I'm glad that your wedding was wonderful! I also agree that not having to worry is worth paying for, unfortunately I had...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

We considered DVC, but at this point we would be better served putting the money toward a house. Maybe late on we will join though. I'm sure my irritation with Disney will fade. Our January trip was probably the most fun I've ever had.

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

I couldn't get prices on menu items, various venues, flowers, and other extras. I didn't do a lot of research, but I didn't expect that Disney would be so difficult to work with. I thought that I would be able to get most of my information straight from the source. Also, maybe you didn't say...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

I'm glad I wasn't the only one. And I don't think it's an Escape bride thing, I was doing wishes. I think that if you have any reservations about prices, they just aren't that interested in you. I'm sure your wedding will be beautiful no matter what. Remember, at the end of the day you...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

ConnorLevisMom, You are absolutely right that I don't want to spend a lot of money. If it were entirely up to me, I would have done JOP without a second thought. My fiancé is the one that wants a big wedding. However, while I am not pleased with DFTW, I am not angry that it costs a lot of...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

Yeah, I just want to be careful not to rain on anyone's parade. Disney weddings are beautiful, even if they are a headache. I think for 100 guests, I would have needed at least 30,000 to make it worry free and I just wasn't willing/able to spend that. I think we are going to do JOP with...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

Well I don't know how "brave" it is, but I'll always take a compliment. :lovestruc Unfortunately when I'm angry it always shines through. (I'm definitely going to use that in the future). "I'm not raising my voice, that's my anger shining through." :rotfl: I really agree about the...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

I completely agree about transparency. If I had known ahead of time, I may still be doing it. Even with our contract, there is a lot "hidden". I mean it's in there, but the contract is 16 pages and a lot of the unexpected fees don't show up until the end.

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

Part of me wishes I had known about S&D before I got fed up with the whole thing. They look beautiful, and everyone seems really happy with them. Oh well. I think we are just going to take a really big honeymoon. Traveling is more my thing anyway.

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

I'm glad to hear that you are having a good experience. I'm sure a lot of it comes down to expectations.

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

I see what you're saying, but that is definitely incorrect. Maybe that's how it used to be, but that isn't how it is now. It is very explicit on the Disney website that the Food and Beverage minimum only includes food and beverages. Also, I asked my WC and she was very clear: only food...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

Haha, it's okay, you can say angry. I probably am. Disney wasted my time and I am not happy about it. I was always very straight forward with them, and they were vague and condescending. Although I am unhappy with them, I don't think anything I have said hasn't been factual. If it has, I...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

Honestly, I am so fed up with DFTW, that I don't even want to deal with them anymore. But, although they are cheaper, it doesn't include a meal, and the guest count is very limited. If we are not having many guests, I would rather save the money. For the price of an escape wedding...

Why I decided against a Disney Wedding

Crickety, I'm so sorry to hear that your wedding planning isn't going how you wanted. The one thing I do think is that Disney will come through in the end. Unfortunately, I think there will be some headaches in the meantime. Have you tried going over your wedding planner and...
