Route 1 is one of the nicest, most picturesque drives you will ever take. As such, you should be the driver. anyone can get sick as a passé get on this road. As previously noted, full of hairpins and such. But also full of 100 year old bridges and stunning cliffs/lookouts. Stick to I-5 and 101...

Westin St Francis, W Hotel on Market, Westin on Market. San Fran is such a small city you can get anywhere in the city in about 5-10 minutes via cab for around 5-10 bucks. Westin St Francis has best rates and is in Union Square so thats my first vote if you are visiting.

I went to school here, and it is an absolute not to miss. State Stret is a quaint downtown, and El Paseo Shopping center is excellent for shopping, brunching, and whatever you feel. The weather is always really nice except for the summer fog

Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. Kind of like a themed wonderland hotel. NOT TO MISS! You have to stay here at least once in your life if you love Disney Land.
