This is the first thing I thought of as well. If you book a cruise, you should be able to book excursions too. Or at least when it is paid in full. The new cruisers are at such a disadvantage & even us veterans on DCL may not get the excursions we really want to go on. The waiting game &...

Yes it is called "Musher's Camp" in Skagway. It includes time in the rainforest too which my DS will love & time in Gold Rush park. I am leaning towards this excursion along with the train ride if time permits. There is a similar one in Juneau so depending upon the whale watching excursion...

Same here...my DS & I can't fly in a helicopter...we do want to see the sled dogs...DCL has an excursion w/o a helicopter...I'd be interested if anyone has done that one! TIA!

My only "complaint" in rule breaking is something that might contaminate food or drink areas & get people sick: kids taking food with fingers, filling up personal mugs with soda, etc... :crazy2: I would not hesitate to tell a CM about it for my sake & everyone's sake. If no one was around...

I have stayed at the Country Inn & Suites across from the port on Astronaut Blvd many times using their "park & cruise" rate package. One night of lodging, free breakfast, free parking for the duration of your cruise, free shuttle to & from the port. Clean hotel, great food & friendly staff...

Personally, I downgraded from a balcony to a secret porthole room so I'd have money for excursions. The Alaskan excursions are quite expensive & I wanted to do one in each port. So depends on your budget. IF it were me, yes I would save the money since I spend very little time in my cabin...
