More fun planning resort stays than park tours?

The more I talk to people about WDW, I realize that the enjoyment level is extremely high for planning which hotel to stay at. I take pride in counting how many of the resorts I've had the pleasure of vacationing at. My favorite vacation (1997) was when I came up with the bright idea to...

Polynesian and Contemporary in the 1970's-1980's

Yes, Wenda, I agree totally with you about how it used to be. That's why I so enjoyed getting back into the DIS Boards to remember back when the Magic Kingdom was a playground for kids during the day and at night it would thin out for us "cool" young people to walk around with the piped-in...

Polynesian and Contemporary in the 1970's-1980's

I have been away from the boards for awhile, but this post brought me back to life again!! My family and I stayed at the Polynesian Hotel in 1978 in a "Tonga" first-floor room right in front of that above-posted penninsula. Things I remember: the flower behind my right ear (I'm available)...

What's your favorite Deluxe resort restaurant?

Not having been to DisneyWorld lately, I can only recommend what was available a few years ago. Flying Fish was a fun restaurant to have fresh fish while being on the Boardwalk--the place to be after dark. I've been away for awhile and happy to be back from my cave in Bedrock:crazy...

    Happy Birthday Wilma Flintstone! 9/30

Thank you all so much for the wonderful birthday wishes. I've been away from my computer for a few weeks and decided to check in a few days after my birthday. Your thoughts and cute cakes and kitties were just what I needed. My son just started driving and I panic each and every day until he...

DL and WDW parks slipping slowly

Maybe we should all take a trip to Tokyo's DisneySea. I understand the quality of that park is outstanding. My bags are packed!;) --Wilma (wishful thinking)

    Wyndham Palace

The theme at the Wyndham is: NO THEME! After spending time and energy planning a 3-nighter away from anything Disney (my husband and son's idea), they informed me that Disney hotels are, indeed better and that next time we won't be so ridiculous. That said, the room was lovely with a view to...

Just back: Poly, & Cr (good, bad, & ugly) LONG

Some years ago (back in '95, I think), the Contemporary was "being revamped". Chunks of debris were all over the main floor, as well as piles of wet tarp here and there. It was not a pretty sight. Our friends were staying on the 11th floor at the time. Armies of ants, beetles and a spider or two...

Amy Update 8-4 (updated from weekend)

I've been away to Key West and one of the first things I did (besides laundry and food shopping--ugh!) is find a message from your hubby. I'm thrilled to be able to say "hello" to you directly. I hope you still check this thread from time to time. I want you to know that you and your family...

    Birthday Greetings to my Wife!

Dear Amy, My husband tells me that I day-dream about the romantic movies I watch and that I should "get real!." Well, you two are LIVING the romantic fantasy we watch in a darkened theater. Just knowing there are people in the world that care about each other so much makes me feel great...

Will I really like Wilderness Lodge?

And don't forget about the beach where you can view the nightly Electric Water Pageant. Besides AKL, this has, in my opinion, the best theming. Just check out the lobby, pool area and grounds. Oh, I feel that "tug" of Disney calling me back. Help!! Have fun, Wilma:wave:

Help! Can't decide the Poly or Comp?

The Poly has great atmosphere, theme, ambience. The Contemporary has none. Contemporary has very large rooms and, if you are lucky, tower rooms have fantastic views of Magic Kingdom. The Poly has large rooms and, if you are lucky, lagoon-view rooms of the Magic Kingdom. My vote is...

    Widow sues Disney

You know what Judge Judy would say..."but for HIS actions..." In simple terms: he drank himself into a tizzy and wandered off a short pier. Unfortunately, it's HIS fault. I feel for his children and hope his misguided wife can forgive him.

    Amy update 7-2-03

I like the feisty sound in your voice--you need that with all the red tape garbage! You and Amy are doing the right thing; don't doubt yourself. You three continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Wilma:wave:

Which Resort has the LARGEST rooms?

The reason WL has rooms that are similar in size to POR is because, and I read this somewhere??, it was originally scheduled to be considered a "moderate resort." The theming and touches like private balconies, made this such a popular hotel that they decided to call it a deluxe. That's why...

Which Resort has the LARGEST rooms?

After some quick checking, this is what I found: Grand Floridian: 403 sq. feet Contemporary: 436 sq. feet Polynesian: 409 sq. feet I knew the Contemporary was the largest room on property (we're talking standard rooms here). The Poly also...

Worst Accident ever seen at park

After reading the various and sundry horror stories, the one that sticks in my mind is the one posted earlier by TLinden16 (Karen). A common nightmare of mine is flying down a roller coaster and having the harness come apart, with me hanging on for dear life. Dreams can feel so real, so I...
