IMHO - I would suggest cruise afterwards. The cruise is soooo much better than the parks that you would be disappointed the otherwise. You won't regret it!

From looking at some trip report photos, I would caution what you mean by swimming. The pools are usually quite crowded. I think they should call them "wetting areas" instead of swimming pools.

Is upgrading at port cheaper? Currently, it looks like a $1,500 upgrade. I can afford it, but not really sure it's worth it.

Call me what you want, but this incident is NOTHING like references to being in big cities. This was a bus, that was stopped, boarded and people robbed. That doesn't just happen. Yes, if you make a wrong turn in a bad part of town, you might be in for trouble. Again, that is NOT what happened here.
