Going 2/9-2/16 to celebrate my big 4-0! :dance3: My bday isn't until March, so we're really going a month early. Just didn't want to fight the spring break crowds. Staying at POR FQ 2/9-2/16. This trip will just be my husband, mom, and MIL. Never stayed at POR FQ before (prior trips were...

How bad is it? . . .Really?

OK, I'm really really am not a roller coaster person. But, I've ridden RnR twice. I couldn't believe I enjoyed it! My one tip would be to get a seat toward the front. Loved the ride the 1st time sitting in the front and was way not fond of being in the back. Say what you want that there...

Free Entry to Epcot for Illuminations??

OK so, be nice. I know this sounds silly but, on one of the Disney Secrets, someone mentions being able to get into Epcot around 9 for Illuminations and not having to have a valid pass. On our 1st day/nite, we plan on getting checked in at POR FQ, chilling out a bit at the room and then going...

    Motion sickness remedies

I know this sounds goofy (no pun intended) but ginger candy saved my tushie while on a boat in Hawaii. I tend to get motion sick easily, but since everything makes me sleepy as well, I took the risk of the trip being smooth so I could stay awake long enough to enjoy the scenery. Well, the...

    *The OFFICIAL February 2012 Thread!*

best Resort for guest in wheel chair

We took my mobility challenged grandfather with us on our last trip and acutally stayed at CBR and did great. We rented an ECV from Walker Mobility and it went everywhere with us. In fact, we couldn't have done without it. At CBR, we had a ground floor room and he could zip in and out. We...

Jan/ Feb 2006 when to go??

We are planning a Jan 27-Feb 4 trip right now! We went approx this time in 2003 and it was fabulous! Hardly any lines, no problem getting tables at sit down restaurants. Also, we needed light jackets in the morning, but they were off by 10 or so. Only rained 1 day and then it was more of a mist.

Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

I saw something in SeaSpray's last post that I hadn't heard of before. Now you have to pay extra to be in Martinique and/or Trinidad North? When did this start? How much extra is it?

Advice-How many of you bring your own pillows?

If you are running out of space, buy one of those luggage sacks that look like a big Zip-loc bag. All you have to do is put it in there, squish most of the air out and seal it. I've done that more than once because I refuse to travel without my own pillow.

Watch out for the "big" girl...

I'm 5'8 and weigh 300 and I didn't have a single issue at WDW. I understand your fears. It's kind of weird to go someplace and not run into issues. The only one that was a bit tight was Splash Mountain, only because you have to side in and put your legs under the seat in front of you. Didn't...

Last week of Jan- first week of Feb.

We went Feb 1-8 of 2003. Weather was great. Half the days you needed a light jacket in the morning over your shorts and t-shirt but didn't need the jacket anymore by 10AM. Only rained (misted) one morning. I think highs were 75-80 degrees. We swam a couple of the afternoons at CBR but...

    Animal Kingdom

Our first trip, we only scheduled a half day and ended up going back and still didn't see everything. In February, we scheduled a full day and still ended up going back and didn't see everything. If you go for less than a full day, you'll miss stuff.

    Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

BTMR doesn't have big drops. I hate roller coasters, especially the big drops, and I loved this ride. Lots of turns and dips.

    CBR and book review

The Unofficial Guide scared me too, but I'm sooo glad I stuck with my decision and stayed at CBR in Feb. It was wonderful! Never regretted it for a minute. Rooms were great, pools everywhere, your own beach to relax on, huge food court, and simply gorgeous. Don't let the UG bother you...

If you've been to WDW recently...

Me neither. We went three years ago and again in Feb. and with regards to atmosphere and attitude, nothing was different. In fact, the first time, we stayed off property and in Feb. stayed at CBR. Because of this, I think it could have been a bit better. I couldn't find any effects from...

First Non-Park Day Ever - What to Do???

We spent our non-park day at Downtown Disney and Boardwalk. We did all morning shopping at DD, had lunch and then did DisneyQuest in the afternoon. Took the bus to Boardwalk, did the shops there and went to Shula's for dinner.

    Which Steakhouse is the best?

I 2nd Shula's. It was fantastic. I can't believe being from Kansas that I was in Florida eating beef. I was going to eat seafood ever day. Anyway, it was probably one of the best pieces of beef I have ever had. My whole family of 8 thought so too. One piece of advice: If you get the...

Where is your favorite spot for parade/fireworks etc?

Illuminations-We stood between Mexico and Norway and had a great, unobstructed view. No trees or anything. We got there about 45 minutes early and we're glad we did. Quite a few people tried to crowd in front of us. But, we held our ground and were rewarded with a super show. Fireworks at...
