I love the 50mm f/1.8, it's a great lens for the money. But on the T2i it's a little tight, especially when you are indoors due the 1.6 crop factor.

Another vote for the 17-55mm f/2.8. It's a great walk around lens that is incredible at night!

Are you on a Mac or PC? I would look for inexpensive software that would help you edit your photos versus web based editing. Adobe Photoshop Elements is a good choice, though it maybe overkill. They do offer a free trial so you can evaluate the program.
