    AoA or AK Villas?

Stick with AoA - soon enough you will have to be in a 2brm villa or book 2 rooms (my sister does that and has Mom's room and Dad's room!). Your kids are at the age where they will love everything no matter where you stay and you and your spouse can't really enjoy what the deluxe resorts have to...

Is deluxe worth it? Why? Why not?

I agree with popular opinion here - it depends on each family. For us, when our kids were little a mod was perfect but as they got older we find we all enjoy the deluxe resorts for many reasons: locations, amenities, dining options... I think what matters is that everyone is having fun and...

Deluxe Resorts...how do you afford it?

For me... I could spend $6000 on two weeks at the beach where I would be sweeping sand, making beds, doing laundry, cooking, entertaining, and come home exhausted. OR I could spend $6000 for a week at a Disney Villa where someone else could make the beds, cook the food, sweep the sand, and...

    Best Resort for Teens/YA

Another vote for Epcot Resorts - lots of fun, good food choices, walking to DS and Epcot, boardwalk dining choices. We actually had fun walking thru Epcot and getting on the monorail to MK :)

To those who have gone to the dark side....

Universal isn't the dark side, it's a whole different atmosphere. You can't really compare the two. I love both parks equally in very different ways. Disney is magical and like being in a fairy tale world. Universal and IOA is exciting and thrilling. Yes it's worth a visit. If you can stay...

    That Indescribable WDW Feeling

:grouphug: My sisters laugh at me but I still cry when we walk down Main St and I see the castle for the first time! I love to see other families with their young children experiencing that for the first time, too. My teenage daughters laugh and say "get a grip, Mom" but then they hug me and...

Resort with the biggest bang for your buck?

Depending on what your family dynamic is at the time of your trip I would say BC or Dolphin. Location is wonderful, food choices are varied and plentiful, amenities are awesome.... I think they both offer lots for people who want to hang out at the resort and for people who want to do parks...

A little confused about Caribbean Beach Resort Bus system

There was a bus every few minutes when we stayed at CB. They did get a bit crowded because of strollers, etc. and they did stop at each island but we never had anyone pushing or anything.

Weather comparison- mid June vs. late August

Hot, hot, hot but nothing you haven't had in CA. It's hot in August most places so you will just be hot in Disney :) This August is our 4th time and the only time of year we go... crowds will be lighter (even with dining plan) and parks will still have late nights. You might not get 3am but...

    AAA discount?!

Go to AAA... we did for the first time this year and saved quite a bit on AKV for August. $445 below the ressie I had made the night before. I always booked thru Disney and have always been happy but with AAA we will also get the parking pass - I hear good things about the location of the...

I need to do disney dining on a budget. Can it be done?

Except for DHS we find counter service really good. Columbia Harbour House is great and so reasonable. Lots of really good food in Epcot. Flame Tree at AK serves huge portions. We always stop at Publix and this year we have a 1brm so we will have a kitchen. If you are at AKL isn't there a...

Space Mountain and a 5 Year Old

Back in 2000 my youngest was a very tiny 5yo. She was not tall enough to ride and we intended to switch-off. The CMs were assisting a handicapped rider and we foolishly let our daughter get on the ride. She was in front of me and behind my DH. Scared the life out of me. I was holding onto...

What do you wear on your feet?

For us the trick is to change shoes often. We wear one pair in the morning, hang by the pool in the afternoon, and wear a different pair at night. I bring Tevas, Nike flip flops, sneakers, and sandals. Changing the pressure-points on your feet is key to not getting blisters. Enjoy :)

    disney and universal trip

We've done it our past two trips and we loved it. Stayed at HRH in 2002 and Royal Pacific in 2007. Two advantages: First -UR resorts are beautiful. RP is the least expensive and is really lovely - doesn't even compare to a Disney Value or Mod. HRH is like a Disney Deluxe. Second - front of...

    Mousekeeping tip?

We are a family of 4 and leave $5 - the little extras always thrilled my girls!! They couldn't wait to see how their towels were folded or their teddy bears arranged :) We always leave the tip on the pillow... I have never left it in an envelope. Sometimes I have left a note for an extra...

    Flying Vs. Driving

WDW is an exhausting vacation - I can't imagine needing to drive home when we are done. This is why my DH will not drive. I would love to drive down - take our time and stop in NC - but driving home after a week in Disney does not sound like fun. He would sell the car in Orlando and buy...

"Worth It" - an essay breaking down that expression....

Great thread! I agree that many people seem to ask questions for instant gratification - I do it myself!! Those who commented that these boards are so big now nailed it.... questions get lost quickly. I have had to find my own questions to read responses. I appreciate the responses and...

Is a Deluxe Hotel Really Worth it?

It's hard to say what's "worth it" for your family but for us the Mods were easy when our girls were younger. Now with older teens we need more room. My kids can go to one park and DH and I can go dinner. Sometimes the kids sleep in and DH and I are up early. We like the freedom that the...

Your input needed for which resorts you recommend.

Stayed at CBR, POR/Riverside, and BC so far and will be at AKV... I cannot recommend any value resorts but I have been to All Star Music and you could not pay me to stay there. I know people love the AS resorts but I really thought the rooms were scary small and the place was mobbed. Everyone...

Sell me on the beach club!!!

Listen to us - it is sooo worth it!! Beautiful resort, best location, awesome pool, great dining choices, big rooms.... love, love, love it!! It's my favorite so far. We stayed there last visit and choosing AKV this time was tough for me. We will definitely stay at BC again. Do Cape May...
