Hoping to upgrade at the port for the first, any tips on strategy for early arrival?

We were pretty much in your same scenario in early June. Five concierge rooms still open when the 3-day blackout started online before arrival. We arrived at port at 8:45am and went to 3rd level of the parking garage. We were first in line and made friends with the cast member who was...

Phone and Internet- Ability to work from cruise?

I will add for many, these career paths are a choice. Do the positives outweigh the negatives (short or long term) and how much is someone’s time worth? Everyone must choose for themselves, and I would venture to say most in these types of professions have made a conscious choice to be...

Phone and Internet- Ability to work from cruise?

I agree with this. I work in Sales with clients who are accustomed to having quick access to my team if needed. It would be impossible to have that level of connectivity at sea. I know the setup may not be possible with your DH, but as long as he understands the above statement, that should...

Castaway Cay - Parasailing or Jet Skis??

Yes, you can just add the names when you show up on the beach. That’s the part I don’t like about DCL’s update to this excursion online. There is no explanation of how the process works to add the second person to each wave runner.

Castaway Cay - Parasailing or Jet Skis??

It would be $366 for a family of 4 on 2 jet skis. My son and I just did this two weeks ago and we paid $183 for the 2 of us on 1 jet ski. I wish Disney hadn’t changed this format on their website. It used to be much clearer on the total price.

    Alcohol Policy Double Port

I agree. Unless the crew at the badge scan/xray machine is doing some quick "check box" of particular passengers bringing alcohol on board, I can't imagine they'd ever know how many times you came through. We actually came back from port one time and forgot we had purchased several small...

    How long typically for customs?

It was about 50 minutes from lining up inside the ship until clearing customs. Not horrible, but longer than we’ve previously experienced.

    How long typically for customs?

The wait at Port Canaveral this morning was long. We lined up to get off the Fantasy at 7:45am and had to hold on the ship for awhile because the customs area was completely full. Once we got down there, we saw they only had half the customs agent areas open, so I assume that was the backup...

Those just back from the Fantasy

We just got off the Fantasy this morning. The Mickey party was at 3pm on day 5 for us (St Thomas day). Be sure to check the navigator on the day-of. We were told by several cast members earlier in the cruise it would be at 4pm. We didn’t show up until 3:45 and missed most of the party. The part...

    European Magic - Moet Ice

Yep, they had it on our Mediterranean cruise in June last year.

Do you ever think Disney will adjust its thinking on WiFi on board?

Correct that your phone will use data for your apps, if...... You are signed into the DCL data page, and if you haven't turned off your automatic updates for apps. We had this happen on our first cruise. Bought the 1 GB data package, and I checked later that night and had 600 MB gone...

Port Adventures...book on my own or with Disney?

Disney typically provides a guide for excursions booked through them, which takes a level of stress off of being in a new area. Also, from our experience, port adventures through Disney are usually let off the ship first in the mornings, or through a separate gangway, and then the group is...

    Mimosa??

I seem to remember them being around $8 each on the pool deck this past December. Unless, of course, you specify a higher end champagne than their standard.

Can you take tram to Castaway Cay 5k starting line?

When we were there in December, we took the shuttle to Pelican Point and the CC 5K group was still at the starting line. We weren't running the race, but definitely could have joined the group if needed. Not sure if this is the norm, that's the first time we've been off the ship early enough...

Are movies available in 3D ONLY shown in 3D?

We had the same experience on our December cruise for Star Wars and earlier in the year for other movies. Both 2D and 3D showings. Note that they may show the 2D versions in the Walt Disney theater for the bigger releases (ie - Avengers) as well as Buena Vista theater.

Please help me not panic over flying in the morning of our cruise!

I fly a lot for work, and while delays are usually minimal and cancellations rare, they do happen. Usually when you least expect it. Realizing you can't fly out the night before, I'd echo what others are saying: have a back-up plan in case the worst happens - the flight is cancelled. As...

    Mixology Class - Drinks?

We've done mixology on both the Dream and Wonder. I'll just add to what others are saying....in our experience, the "potency" of the drinks is no joke. There will be extra drinks that people don't finish and potential for extra full-size drinks at the end. I am by no means a lightweight, and...

    Remy Reservations

I'll add our experience from April. First time on DCL, and we did both Palo and Remy. We loved Palo. It's very similar to something like California Grill, or as others have said, a big step up from a chain restaurant. But it still feels comfortable and casual, which is a great environment...
