Someone talk to me about Blue Man Group

We took our kids (ages 9 and 11 at the time) in January and they LOVED it. My husband isn't a huge fan of shows, and he loved it, too. We were in the poncho section, and didn't get much on us, but it was great being so close.

    Please convince me!

We stayed at the HRH in January with our DS9 and DS11. I'm not sure of your son's sensitivity to music, but I didn't find that the music around the pool and in the halls was very loud. My 9yo wouldn't have liked it if it were. Granted, it was a quiet time to go, so activity at the pool was...

How many days for universal and seaworld

Four park days total is perfect. Personally, I think one day at Sea World is enough, and would do three at Universal.

Wallets, Purses, and Lanyards.. what to bring?

We went the first day with just lanyards and the purse that converts into a fanny pack (Kipling), so that we could avoid the lockers for everything but Hulk and Rip Ride Rocket (Dragon Challenge they weren't as strict). This would have worked fine, except our kids wanted wands right away, so we...

    Cowfish?

We live in the Raleigh area, so we go to the original Cowfish. Our boys were excited to try the Cowfish in Orlando during our trip last week. We were able to get in without a wait around 5:30-6 on Friday night. The menu wasn't quite as big as the Raleigh menu, but the food was still very good...

    nba rumor

We were just there Monday and it was still open with no indication it would be shutting down soon.

How creepy is Forbidden Journey (and everything else?)

We just got back from Universal... MIB wasn't creepy. In fact, we rode that the most (due in part to no line). The Mummy can be a bit scary for some kids. It's fun for those that like coasters though. I think if she closes her eyes, she'd be fine. The only Harry Potter ride that I...

    Hulk and Rip Roller Coaster

We are just leaving from a long weekend. Other than kicking one person off with a GoPro on the Hulk, they allowed people to put cell phones in pockets and didn't check any pockets when entering the lines during the three days we were there.

Holiday Inn - Orange Lake Resort

My family has owned there for about 27-28 years. The units are kept up well and I agree you definitely need a car to get around. Having the extra space and a kitchen is great. It's much more comfortable than a hotel room. (We are heading to the Universal Hard Rock tonight and my kids are...

Would a 9 year old boy like Legoland or Universal?

Legoland is fun but, like others said, aimed towards younger kids. However, there are definitely rides there that a 9 year old boy would like, and the theming is great, especially if he loves Legos. Personally, I would choose one of the Universal parks. Maybe check out Islands of Adventure...

Universal Experts - Birthday suggestions for 12yo 1st timer?

We are going for my son's 11th birthday in January. Ollivander's is a must. I may schedule a character breakfast for his birthday (or some kind of special meal) and have also considered the Blue Man Group.

Problems with Booking through Orbitz and Adding Children

Thanks again - very good to know I can add them up to arrival. I have the two reservations for now and I'll keep checking the APH rates, just in case.

Problems with Booking through Orbitz and Adding Children

I booked a reservation through Orbitz today using the OUTTAHERE code. If I added my children to the reservation while booking, the prices would have been close to or over the Loews rate, so I booked with two adults and tried calling Orbitz to add the kids after the fact (which others on the...

APH Rates Are Currently Available... [UPDATED 07/27/18]

APH rates for our stay in January are also higher than the SMSM rate...Wow. I guess I'll keep checking to see if maybe they come down.

    Water park in November/December?

We've been to Aquatica that same week, and it was fine. A bit chilly when walking around wet, but that's what towels are for. The great part is it wasn't crowded (unlike the other parks). If it were me, I would plan to go, and just watch the weather.

    can someone explain ollivanders?

Thanks for the advice. We won't go into it with specific expectations. :) We aren't planning to tell my son about the trip before we go so just being there is going to be really exciting.

    can someone explain ollivanders?

We are planning to go January 9-13 for my son's birthday on January 12. Would it be an issue if he had the birthday button on and went to Ollivanders before his birthday? I know he'll never want to wait three days into our trip and will want to have time to use the wand around the parks,and...

    Split Park/Split Stay-Pre Trip Report

Someone asked about Orange Lake.....I can give you a quick Reader's Digest version of OL, as my family has owned a timeshare there for about 27 years. It is now huge compared to when we bought (I was in fourth grade at the time!) It is helpful to have a car to get around, but they do have...
