    Straw Market in Nassau

We love the straw market! It is just as much a part of Nassau as Atlantis. Yes, it is crowded, often noisy, and lots of junk there. Many older women sitting in their booths weaving baskets or purses. Don't ignore them, smile and say hello. They always smile back and say something nice! Just...

    What is typical Bahamian food?

I'll second that! We ate at Conch Fritters restaurant last month and had a grand time. Friendly, clean, a lot of fun eating their namesake. Just past the straw market and inland about a block.

SHould we parasail on CC or not?

Don't hold me to this, but I think the max weight (single or tandem) is 375 pounds.

SHould we parasail on CC or not?

I'm talking about the worker there (not a CM, but a vendor obviously).

    Kalik beer

Kalik beer (named after the staccato music of gourd rhythm instruments) seems to be the beer of choice in the Bahamas. We saw it everywhere, and there were plenty of liquor stores near the ship. I don't think it will be a problem.

SHould we parasail on CC or not?

My son did it and loved it. A couple of cautions. The release you are required to sign at the last minute is the worst I have ever seen, it releases them from any responsibility for injury even if it is their fault and their negligence. Also, they overbook and make people ride tandem whether...

    Duct tape

Problem is, duct tape can leave a very stick residue that you can't get up, and you've left it to the staff to clean off. It is a bear. I've even seen people put it on their doors to hold up signs! Please don't use duct tape except on your own belongings! I advise you invest in a roll of...

    Big Red Boat

We did the BRB in 1991, in Cat 1, which was a wonderful, huge suite, and not much higher than the other rooms (as Cat 1 is today in Magic/Wonder). The ship was already showing its age, but with the Disney touch it didn't matter. We loved the island! And the kids loved all of the ice cream they had.

    Parking Lot

Twice in the last month we drove, arrived at 10:30, and practically had the parking lot to ourselves. We were in/near Disney hotels, and left there about 9 or so. A nice, easy drive. Both times, when we returned, looking out over the parking lot there were PLENTY of parking spaces. But arriving...

How bad is the terminal at 10:30?

We've been on two cruises in the past month, and drove to the terminal. Both times they opened it at 10:30, and there was virtually no crowd. No lines for check-in, and we had plenty of time to roam around the terminal before getting in line. In fact, boarded before the rush of the Disney and...

    Checking in Process ?

I think you might be able to pull it off. Last time we asked about upgrades. We just completely finished the check-in process, then one of us had to go to the station at the far right end of the check-in counter to pay for an upgrade. I don't know fully, though, because I decided to not...

    dining aboard the wonder

    >I just saw a recent menu from 9/04 and nothing seems appealing, >besides the fact the men in my party do not want to >wear a suit coat! Thanks again We've been DCL twice in the past 12 months, and both times we thought Triton's was the best food and the most fun. It's an elegant...

What's the order of events when you get on the ship?

Here is our order in the 4-day a couple of weeks ago: 10:30 Drive up to terminal, all bags checked on the spot (taken by a porter) 10:35 Park and walk to terminal, check in 11:45 Ship open for boarding. Board, go to lunch 12:45 Finished with lunch, explore ship. Many were swimming. 1:30 Go...

    Serenity Bay, sharks?!?

It's there, left side of the picture, just below the middle. As you go down the left side of the picture, first you see the water surface (waves), then a plain dark blue area, then lighter blue as bits and pieces of the bottom of the ocean appear. The shark is just at the bottom of the plain...

    Lunch in Nassau

I asked a week or so ago, but didn't get any bites (bad pun intended  )...anyone know of a good place within walking distance of the ship for lunch in Nassau? Preferably Bahamian cuisine, for a group who enjoys all kinds of food? Thanks!

Bicycle built for two at Castaway Cay?

Does anyone know if they have tandem bicycles on Castaway Cay? DW has an unjury that would probably keep her from pedaling, but we really want to bike there next week. Any information anyone has would be great!! I hope the Castaway Cat is still there. We didn't see her last month, but maybe...

Champagne to Palo's ? Carry or Pack ?

It's Dom Perignon; even with the corkage fee/tip it is well, well below the Disney price for that wine. It's quite a special night so I wanted to bring this along! Thanks for letting me know it's OK in Palo's as it is in the other restaurants.

Champagne to Palo's ? Carry or Pack ?

I've heard you can take a bottle of wine on board and to dinner. I want to take some champagne with us for a special occasion for dinner at Palo's. Is that also OK? Do I carry it or pack it? Thanks!
