How does tipping currently work? Current rates?

It has been quite a few years since our last Disney cruise. I'm curious how the tipping currently works and what the current expected rates are. I recall getting small envelopes from guest services for our cabin person, waiters, etc.

DVC points used for cancelled cruises

Our May 2021 Transatlantic cruise has been cancelled. The email from Disney does not specify how the points we used to book will be handled. Does anyone know how 2020 points banked into 2021 will be handled?

    Beach at Vero?

Will be heading to Vero in January. Last year the beach was being renourished in January and we had to drive down the road to a public beach. What is the current condition of the beach? Is it accessible to resort guests?

Wi-fi only at Vero or wired hook-up?

Headed to Vero and wondering if they have the old cat-5 wired internet hook-ups in the rooms or if everything is wireless. I have the joy of owning a laptop with a broken wireless adapter. Thanks!

    Fall colors at HHI when?

I live in Bluffton, the town just to the west of Hilton Head Island. There is no dramatic burst of fall color like you would associate with New England. There is some color as we have some oaks and wild vines which do lose their leaves. The vines do turn a pele yellow in early December and the...

15 Year Extension at OKW for $25 per point

We won't be extending as our kids will be 55 and 58 in 2042. There are several questions this poses and a big additional benefit. The first question is what will the dues have to rise to to maintain an aging resort in those last 15 years? The dues increases alone could wipe out any gain...

    OKW our Standards Slipping

Stayed in a one bedroom in building 51 recently. Everything was excellent about the building and room. Service was excellent. Only gripe was that the quiet pool got too cold after the third day of our 7 day stay. Have never had a bad experience at OKW in the 10 years we have owned there...

I think its time we opened a new pool temp thread

We were at OKW from 10/28 - 11/3. We went to the quiet pool by the 50's buildings almost every day. When we arrived the pool was very warm and comfortable and the hot tub was hot. But after 2-3 days, the heater was turned off and the pool got progressively colder. It was uncomfortably cold for...

    VCR's in Hilton Head Studios?

Wondering if the studios have VCR's in them. Always forget because we usually stay in the 2 bedrooms.

    cockaroach OKW style

We had a roach scurry into the room with us as we opened the door. My younger son, then about 5 refused to go to sleep with that "big bug" in the room. We chased it down the hall and it ran under the washing machine. So we turned out all the lights and waited a few minutes, then turned them...

Does Vero still have Business Ctr access to computers? Leaving Sat AM

We were there in early August. There is a computer in the lobby that you can use for $5/half hour. My son checked his e-mail there. I didn't see a printer. Make arrangements to use it at the front desk. My son said it was available until 10 PM.

Is DVC really worth the money? Has anyone ever thought "I wish I never bought into it

For those of retirement age, DVC can evolve from family vacations to a warm weather escape in the winter months. We look forward to using our points to stay at Vero or Hilton Head during the winter when our kids (now 18 and 21) are out of the nest. It is far less expensive than purchasing a...

    Vero Trip Report

We didn't do any of the turtle activities. We did see the nest right by the walkway to the beach. We got a few bug bites, but not any more than on any other trip to Florida. We sat in the back row of tables closest to the walkway by the pool and had no trouble with bugs there. We have found the...

    Vero Trip Report

Just back from a relaxing 8 days at Vero. We were lucky enough to get 3rd floor rooms 1440 and 1441 (lockoff) as our 2 br with ocean view. Some changes: Sonyas is now open Thursday - Sunday only, which doesn't affect us because we don't eat there. Dehumidifiers in both units. In the...

    Who's from Long Island, NY

One son in college, the other is a senior at SWR HS. Taxes still a bit lower than in surrounding school districts, but only by a few dollars. We also get a lot less state aid (7-12 million less) than surrounding districts, so running our schools with comparable taxes seems reasonable.
