go to your local stor brfore you leave for vaca and buy some extra cards but dont open the packaging and when you get home return the un used ones. saves lots of cash over buying in the parks and they are so small and light it won't kill the weight of your bags.

just a little side note... your camera is a "crop" the 50mm has a 35mm equivilance of 80mm which puts it close to the telephoto length. to see if you like that focal depth take your kit lens and zoom to 50mm take some shots and see what you think then take shome shots zoomed to 35mm. compare...

I believe that those 2 cameras use the same sensor so the pictures will be essentially the same. The 7000 is a pro model with a heavier build and more weather sealing. Have you considered the D90? it is pro-sumer kinda half way between the two you have listed and a price of around 900-1000...
