Dining Around the World – aka, How to Gain a Pound in 8 Days – an August 2012 Review!

Between the (for-us) early morning and a full belly, DH was feeling tired after lunch. Standard wisdom would have had us going back to the room for a nap, especially since we would be hitting MK evening EMH that night. But DH gets migraines whenever he takes a nap (weird, huh?), so instead, he...

Dining Around the World – aka, How to Gain a Pound in 8 Days – an August 2012 Review!

San Angel Inn was not our original hope for lunch this day, but I'm glad it worked out the way it did! We had actually dragged our butts out of bed before park opening (a first for us in 4 trips to WDW) to take the Around the World Segway tour. It ended around 10:30 and our plan was to try to...

Dining Around the World – aka, How to Gain a Pound in 8 Days – an August 2012 Review!

Okay, let's jump right in! We arrived in Orlando at about 6:30 pm after driving all night from Texas. We checked in at All-Star Music, and since our first-night tradition is always hitting MK for Wishes, we were on a bus within minutes of dropping off our luggage in the room. We quickly...

Dining Around the World – aka, How to Gain a Pound in 8 Days – an August 2012 Review!

Hi, everyone! This is the first time I've ever done a dining review, so please bear with me. We just got back home early yesterday morning, and I wanted to share our experiences with everyone here on the DIS, because I've gotten so much great info here over the years. The diners on this trip...

Do you wear ears at WDW?

We wore bride/groom ears on our honeymoon trip. It was fun, but I'll never wear the headband-style ears again. It hurt my temples too much to wear them with sunglasses for some reason, so most of the time I left the sunglasses off and went around all squinty, which wasn't fun either.

What age do you go from "He was too young" to "He lived a good life?"

I agree with this. My DH's grandfather was 74 when he passed. He was relatively healthy and active, still training horses, building wagons, and raising his wife's 14-year-old granddaughter who'd lived with them since she was 3. In the space of less than a month, he was diagnosed wit h...

    Mother&baby costume ideas please?

Ariel, Eric, and Flounder (or Sebastian?) Belle, Beast and Chip? Ideas for baby girls kept popping into my head first, so I'll add those too, just because... King Stefan, Queen Leah, and baby princess Aurora. Or Peter Pan, Wendy, and baby is Tink.

Cinderella Castle suite - Tom Cruise stayed there

Well, it's not like he has to wait in lines in the heat or anything. Some other article I read on their trip noted that they mostly used the utilidors to get around MK, and presumably hopped backstage at other parks as well to get between attractions. He's probably mostly in cooled areas, with...

Doh!! I think I was scammed!!

But who would do that when the legit product here costs the same as the counterfeit? Besides, you'd run that risk at any place that allows returns. Can't imagine it happens that often, and if it did, I'd just return the problematic item I received. Just like when I pay for the current...

    Do you celebrate holidays?

I've tried skipping them before but find it too depressing. I guess "the hype" has its hooks well set in me, thanks to growing up with a mom who always made a big deal of most holidays.

    Last Day of a Vacation

We don't even try. Our real "last day" is the day before. On our travel-back day, we wake up, check out, and hit the road. Ugh, no way could I do that. We have a long drive, too, but I'd rather get in super late than get up super early! We usually try to arrive home around dawn on a Sunday...

Work dress codes? Can you be fired?

Since others have mentioned that steel-toed dress shoes do exist, yes, it's all legal. Absolutely ridiculous to require of mechanics, but legal. My father is a mechanic and has always worn either company-supplied coveralls with a name patch, or a company-provided uniform shirt with a name...

Doh!! I think I was scammed!!

You know what I also don't see marked anywhere on that receipt? Any sort of "employee discount". In every retail place I have worked, an employee discount shows up on the receipt in such a way that you can see the original price, the % discount, and the adjusted price. So, yeah, she was...

Doh!! I think I was scammed!!

On Amazon, there are Jose Eber straighteners available direct from Amazon itself, not sold through a third-party. I highly doubt they would be counterfeit in that case. And they are still the significantly reduced price that the OP mentions.

    Summit Plummet

I rode it and I'm still here. :thumbsup2 DH was too scared, though. It is the tallest and fastest free fall slide in the USA, and the 2nd tallest/fastest in the world, according to the Guiness world records folks.

Why does the Animal Kingdom close so early?

Because there just aren't enough non-animal attractions to sustain evening attendance. We enjoyed some great evening EMHs at AK, back when they actually had them...rode EE and Kali over and over. The place was deserted, because all there really was to do was Dinoland, ITTBAB, EE, and Kali. It...

    OT: peeling feet!

My feet were peeling and gross for over a year while I tried different scrubs and even that ped-egg thing. Anything that removed skin just seemed to make the problem worse. The only thing that has helped for me is the old-school method of wearing Vaseline and socks to bed. Giving the...

    Selling plasma...

Haven't done it myself, but I think continuing to look for a PT job (even fast food or something) would be more lucrative. The donation center here pays $20, and you can donate a max of twice a week.
