    Tackling Christmas Break at WDW!

We went 12/23-12/31 in 2012 and it was one of my favorite vacations! We stayed off-site also and got to the park at opening each day, and we were able to do a ton before it got busy (around 10:30). Never waited more than about half an hour- saved the less popular rides for later in the day...

    Thanksgiving or Christmas-Help!!!

You may find the WDW experience similar both weeks...for me it just isn't Christmas in November. So I would have felt that something was 'off' somehow. WDW is beautiful over Christmas- and you will be able to enjoy the atmosphere either week :goodvibes

For those who are going or who have been at Christmas

We went to DHS on 12-25-13. Yes, was crowded but probably less than Epcot or MK. Had a really nice dinner at Mama Melrose. A resort restaurant would be nice too. It was kinda cool to be in a park on the actual holiday- cast members were very friendly. When we walked down the main strip at...

    Universal at Christmas

We were there 12/29 or 12/30 last year. Was busy but some big rides (Hulk, HP dragon ride) were near walk-on around dinner time. Definitely do the main HP ride (can't recall the name) first thing. Grinchmas was great... saw it twice in same day. Unlike WDW, the Seuss area was playing...

Helpful hints for Christmas Holiday trip

I agree with a lot of what has been said already.... we were there from 12/23-12/31 last year. We did NOT do park hoppers since we planned to stay at only one park due to crowd levels. Since we were offsite, we missed EMH at a few parks but we were always there as early as we could be. That...

No stroller for 3 yr old?

Last Christmas we did WDW without a stroller for DD (She turned 4 the month after Disney). We did not plan to- we brought the stroller to FL, but just decided against this for several reasons: parks were very crowded, DD is a good walker, DH and I could take turns carrying her if needed and we...

    Animal Kingdom Question?

Yes, you will have plenty of time to see the show. Not sure when the last show will be. I would head that way right away after the parade, as many probably plan to do the same thing and you will want to be sure to get a seat. You also may want to get a seat for the parade closer to the start-...

    Winter/Christmas break for 2013?

In the Chicago area- it is usually around 12/21-1/5. We were there from 12/23-12/31 last Christmas. The crowds should drop aff after 1/1. New Year's Eve was insanely busy at MK- you MUST arrive early (like at RD or within an hour of RD). The first few days of your trip will be crowded, but...

    How much spending money?

You will find a wide variety of responses... For our family, we bought $50 gift cards for each child before our trip (was part of Christmas present- we were there over the holidays). DH and I planned to buy a shirt for each child too- out of our money. I did not buy souveniers for myself last...

If you were bringing first timers, where would you bring them?

My boys would have loved T-Rex and Chef Mickeys at that age. Actually- last trip they were disappointed that we did not do Chef Mickeys. Yes, it is a bit loud but we love the classic characters and the celebratory atmosphere. If you don't eat at T-rex (at DTD) it is worth it to stop in the...

Gah! Am I making the right decision to say offsite?

Have fun...once we had child #3 we realized we would never go back to to a standard hotel size room. We stayed offsite over Christmas and had a nice three bedroom condo with a full kitchen-saved about $7,000 over a comparable Disney room. Offsite can be a great option.

My little wizard is getting the trip of his life.

Have fun pixiedust: My boys loved Universal more than Disney on our trip last December. As others have said, the WWOHP area is quite small. The line for Forbidden Journey was long (but we went on busiest week of year)- we found that later at night we could walk back on to the dragon ride...

Going to Disney in May with my family

Have a great trip :) We went in May several years ago and the weather was amazing. At DTD, your boys might like T-Rex. My sons are past the dinosaur age, and we did not eat there but they really enjoyed the store. They each bought geodes- you can purchase them and smash them right in the...

Lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern or Tony's Town Square

Never been to Tony's but we loved our lunch at LTT. The Ooey Gooey Toffee cake was amazing, and I had a wonderful salmon salad (Special that day). Service was wonderful- Alex was his name, I think.

OT: family not happy about baby news

We had a similar reaction from our family when we announced pregnancy #3. I was 38 when I delivered (DH was 40), and our sons were 5 and 7. I think everyone thought we were done- and we did too, but then decided to try for one more. We did not tell anyone because we did not want to get...

    Holiday trip tips

Get to parks as early as you can. Hit the most popular rides first and grab fastpasses when you can. Eat CS meals at off times (NOT between 11:30-1:30ish)- we brought in sack lunches a few days and ate at our leisure (also saved us about $50-60 each time). Save large capacity shows and less...

    New Fantasyland!

I really liked it. Loved the Circus theme area- Dumbo was really nice with two lines. Loved the big store in that area- water spray area would be really great in hotter months (no so much when we were there in December). Wished we would have at least stepped inside BOG...next trip. Oh-...
