Healthy Eating (Breakfast) on the Wonder

Guess I didn't read the whole thing. Yes, the lox and bagel are available at both breakfast buffets and the sit-down restaurants. In fact, I remember very little that wasn't available at both. The sauted mushrooms on the buffets were excellent, too. I had forgotten about those until I...

Healthy Eating (Breakfast) on the Wonder

If you like it, don't overlook the smoked salmon at breakfast! Lean protein, healthy fat. I had that with capers and fruit almost every morning. The salmon was beautifully fresh and almost like candy. Most of the time I didn't even bother with the bagel or cream cheese.

    Rules that matter

I am especially sensitive to the flash photography during performances for one simple reason: I'm a stage performer. I KNOW what it's like to be on stage and have a sudden bright flash of light distract and break the concentration of the actors, or, worse, blind them so they can't see where they...

Crusin' to Alaska May 24th, 2011 (Lots of photos, menus, ship docs)

I'm just getting caught up and was surprised to see the pic of our fish extender in your report! Glad you liked the treasure chest. I was kinda proud of it because it packed flat. It was really a fun FE group, wasn't it? :hippie:

    Cruising Alaska on a Budget

If you enjoy freebies (and, honestly, who doesn't???;) ), two things to be sure of: 1) when you enter the cruise terminal, there will be someone handing out coupon/savings booklets. TAKE ONE. (Just don't do what I did and forget you have it until you get home!:rolleyes1 ) There are lost of...

    Alaska Excursions--post your reviews here!

At least for our cruise (5/24), the whale viewing from the ship is very minimal, at a pretty significant distance. If you want close up views, you need to do one of the tours. At least, that's the way it was on our trip.

Struggling: Packing for kids for Alaska!?

If you're going to be physically in contact with a glacier, you might want them. Otherwise, raincoats/windbreakers over fleeces worked great for us!

Crusin' to Alaska May 24th, 2011 (Lots of photos, menus, ship docs)

Odd. I have a 16 yo and we got them. They were usually on our fish when we got back from dinner....

    Alaska - May 17-24

We just got off the May 24th sailing and discovered another photography option for Tracy Arm. We set up midship on deck 4. The railings are short, and there were almost no other photographers there. We could hear the naturalist clearly, and got beautiful shots. On our trip, the captain...

Struggling: Packing for kids for Alaska!?

One word: Layers. We never used any of our hats, gloves or down vests. (Just got off the Wonder Tuesday) I appreciated my fleece pants on at sea days when walking around the ship. I did see people wearing parkas and hats on Tracy Arm day. They were mostly from the southern US. We're from...

Let's have some fun!!! Play along...

The best - Getting to spend over an hour with the Walt Disney theatre stage manager, chatting theatre. Even spending 45 min with one of the stage performers. The worst - a tie - the cold I came home with, and the (luckily) infrequent examples of really poor parenting we were subjected to...

    Alaska * May 24, 2011

Thanks, everyone, for all the great FE gifts! What fun! Sorry we couldn't make any of the M&Gs. Too much going on! I, too, HATE unpacking. But it's all done. Did anyone else come home ? I somehow managed to come home with a nasty cold! yuck! But I'd still go back in a heartbeat if I...

    Questions for early Alaskan cruisers!

There were 3 of us, but we were split, since DH had to go back to the airport to park the car. I think we arrived around 12:30 or so. We were never given any boarding numbers. Just followed the lines and walked right on. There was maybe a 15 min wait going through customs, and possibly a 10 min...

    Questions for early Alaskan cruisers!

Yes. At least for this last cruise they did. It was the final night of the cruise.

    Questions for early Alaskan cruisers!

Wow. I know we were on the same cruise, but you'd never know it by our experience of it. We had no problem with check in. Were never given a boarding number. Just walked through the lines. When we arrived with our luggage, the nice porters at the unloading spot grabbed all of the bags with...

don't know how early I'll be able to get up, but since we'll be 3 hours later than I'm used to, maybe it will work..... Or maybe I'll just sleep the entire cruise...:rotfl:

    Questions for early Alaskan cruisers!

We're boarding tomorrow (5/24), so will let you know the next time we can get online how it goes. We have a 12:30 - 1:00 arrival time. We won't be paying for onboard wifi, so we won't be able to connect until Fri at the earliest. But as soon as we can, I'll comment on our boarding exerience.

Crusin' to Alaska May 24th, 2011 (Lots of photos, menus, ship docs)

We're getting ready to head out and catch our plane now for the same cruise!! I know what you mean about trying to make space! Luckily, our FE gifts take up almost an entire carry-on by themselves, so that space will be open for souvies. Depending, of course, on the FE gifts we receive...:rotfl:

Do I really want early dining?

WE loved late dining because we didn't feel like we had to rush our eating to make it to the show in time. Also, since we're in the midwest, we lost an hour going to the ship in Florida. If we had taken main seating, our stomacks would have thought we were feeding them at 4:30! Way too early for...
