Well, I live along this route, so "official" info aside, I know for certain that, with the ship sailing at about 5:00 pm, there is much more daylight going out than coming back. I have not seen the sun rise that early this year yet (and yes, I wake up early).

I have done a seven day Inside Passage Cruise to Alaska before (on a less modern, slower ship). We puttered there and back, and still had plenty of time to do three ports as well as Glacier Bay. So far, I have not really heard an explanation that makes sense.

And of course it's even darker on the southward passage back to Vancouver.... so dark cannot plausibly have anything to do with it. (I know; I live here). Charlene
