I would HIGHLY recommend doing whatever you need to do to get the express passes for those days. It may well be worth it to book an onsite room - the cheapest you can find (usually Royal Pacific) just for the passes. You don't have to stay there, and the room cost may well be cheaper than buying...

Never done Teppan Edo but BIG fan of Tokyo Dining here. My 5 yr old is a sushi fiend (weird, I know) and it's the only place you can get sushi on the DDP. It's wonderful - depending on the timing, you can watch Illuminations or the drummers from the massive windows.

Have to second (or third) everyone's responses - I had a steak the last time I went, and it was wonderful. Also, the almond crusted cheesecake is FABULOUS. I dream about that dessert. (I'm not a big cheesecake fan - but it's amazing.)

From a travel standpoint, you could hop a ferry boat to the Contemporary and have a GREAT breakfast @ the Wave.

if you overbuy at the farmer's markets in the summer, almost all veggies can be vacuum-packed and frozen. you can use a cheapie foodsaver from pretty much anywhere. the bags can get expensive, rolls are cheaper - but if you find it really works for you you can get a chamber-style vacuum sealer...
