Theme Park Touring Advices or Suggestions

I agree with the others. Doing a 10 day Disney trip without being prepared and well informed is a good way to waste time and money. Its like a college class, you need to do your homework first before coming to class and asking questions. Its not that the book will answer all your questions...

    Rope Drop Strategy

Get there early before the park opens, sometimes (not always) they might open earlier then listed if the crowd level will be high that day. Disney now "walks" people when they drop the ropes so its not a mad dash to anything anymore.

    Question about June

Might be there at the same time as I might be going to the Microsoft convention in Orlando for a week in 2012. As long as you stay out of the parks in the middle of the day, you should be OK. Use the heck out of the FP and plan to ride the large capacity rides like PotC and SW during peak...

Which Park is Better: WDW or DL?

Like the others said, these are resorts, not just parks. I assume you mean to compare the resorts and not individual parks so with that assumption it HAS to be WDW, period. The resorts are so much more then just the parks. I can spend days just touring around the hotels, DtD, PI, etc. DL...

Pics & Ideas for homemade Autograph books?

The nice thing about making your own is that you do not have to decide now or for the trip. Just take the card or page stock you want to use and use a little clip board with a large tubed writing device (easier for the characters to sign with their big gloves). Then when you get home, bind it...

    What would you pack?

Florida weather at that time of year is unpredictable (born and raised there). I would be prepared for cold, rain, sunshine, heat, etc. In other words, have each of you take a school size backpack (if you have teens, make them carry their own) with a fleece, sun glasses, water, rain poncho, lite...

Need some help!!! Tips or hints for visit to WDW

First, you do not note why you are staying off property. Are you driving to Orlando? Staying with family or free housing near by? Rates at the value resorts are rather competitive with rates around WDW. If you figure how much you are spending per ticket (per hour of park time) then figure how...

    Park at Poly for MK?

Its more strictly enforced at these two resorts because of the limited parking spaces and abuse to get into MK. The boardwalk resorts are more lacks about it because they have much bigger parking lots and more resorts around the water. Some people use this to get into the back of EPCOT if they...

    Training for WDW

There is a park near home that when the kids were young we would "train" for a WDW trip and get them at about 4-5 miles. They had hills and spots that we would name rides after. I still hike that park today and still imagine I am going down the "Splash Mountain hill" or "Its a Small World...

Making a 40th Birthday trip special...

Ha, what made my 40+ trip special was a bottle of Flexeral and Advil. Next trip I will have my ice pack and hiking pole. Man, I am falling apart.

Critique our family's first trip plans

My wife and I create a Google Docs spreadsheet that the whole family can access (wife and I and two teens). On that we record each day, what TouringPlans.com gives for expected capacity, Park hours, which park is open early and late, parade times, any special events, weather forecast for each...

GPS to get around Disney World

If you got it, take it. Although Disney property is well marked, you can get "turned around" sometimes. Most models will also give you an ETA and a compass which can also be useful. And if you have a GPS on your phone, it can also help you find your car when you park (never had a problem with...

If you can have a BAD time at Disney well...

I was listening to a WDW Today podcast and they commented on people and the "need" to get more ride time in as a direct relation to ticket prices. Now I think Disney should charge what they want, its their product to make a profit on. But when you pay premium price for a product, you have...

I guess Pirates just isn't that popular...

It has such a huge capacity, esp. when both sides are loading, that it fulfills ride demand easily. Thing about how many people ride Pirates compared to how many people ride Dumbo. I hear that they will be doing a interactive queue redue soon.

    Recommend a good pedometer

If you have a smart phone with a GPS, you can always use a free program like Endomondo to track your movements. I will also allow you to post it on FB, let you know your cal burn, etc. :yay:

Do Men Still Wear white tennis shoes?

:rolleyes1 Ha, I have that exact pair and yes, they are completely out of style. I have graduated to Keen sandals and boots.

    Mom's Panel

I know there are some "dads" on the "moms" panel but why did Disney marketing decided to use a gender bias label for a "parent" group. Not saying, just saying. :rolleyes1

    Give me internet !

Same here but with my BlackBerry. I am going down for work training so I need to be online during my work week to check up on things.

    Give me internet !

Why would Disney want you in the parks? They are making money on you by staying in your overpriced (by outside WDW rates) room.
