    Last minute housing DEALS-wow!

Ok, I understand what you're saying but your assuming that there are other weeks booked at those "higher" rates. And your also assuming the homes are owned by large corporations rather than people like you and me, who have to make the investment work. Essentially you're stating that some...

    Last minute housing DEALS-wow!

Deb, I don't think you would consider renting a home at $55 per night. I'll do this one more time: Based on 4 bed home Average mortgage : $ 1300 - 1500 per month Property tax : $ 200 - $300 per month Utility Bills : $ 200 - $300 per month Maintenance (air filters, light bulbs...

    Last minute housing DEALS-wow!

floridagirrl2, I'm sorry if you have taken my post the wrong way. I didn't intend it to be derogatory. Fact is though, that I have seen it happen time and time again that folks get sucked in by price. I understand there's nothing wrong with a good deal but sometimes it stretches credibility...

    Last minute housing DEALS-wow!

Good luck to you if you can get a house at $55 per night. Chances of it being run down, not looked after properly, of being managed by an unprofessional management company and of being ripped off are extremely high. As regards the second web link....make sure you're not confusing British...

Renting a 6 br House within a few miles of Disney @ Emerald Island/Windsor Palms, etc

The thing to look for when staying in a 6 bed home is the bedroom configuration. Are there two master suites or three, are there four, five or even six bathrooms. What beds are in each room ? Will it suit your family ? As far as location is concerned, then Windsor Palms and Emerald Island are...

    disney, in reality or not

Truly amazing that such idiots exist. I have little time or patience for these people. They abuse the power they have and ruin so many peoples lives with their own biased minds. Tigger53...tell your son the world is unfair and unjust but not to let idiots like this get to him. He sounds like...

DCL compared to Celebrity and Princess

I think service comes down to how the actual person is feeling at the time. Generally cruise staff are on 6 or 7 month contracts and naturally they have times when they are down. I've experienced service that isn't as good as usual on all cruiselines and I normally start chatting to the person...

DCL compared to Celebrity and Princess

Whilst we're talking about other lines, has anyone done Norwegian's new line of ships - Dawn and Star? For me, they are the future of cruising. Again it's freestyle dining (when you want and where you want) and with a choice of some 10 restaurants offering everything from sushi, tappenyaki, to...

    Am I crazy?

It's a shame you don't live here in Florida as I'm looking for someone who loves cruises and knows this area well for my front desk. You can always move :) ;)

    Am I crazy?

And I third it ! Look at this as a wonderful opportunity to take stock of your life and where you want to go next. Good luck to you :)

DCL compared to Celebrity and Princess

In my opinion both Princess and Celebrity are far better than DCL. Personally, I'd take Celebrity above Princess. It's a class above and the food and service reflects this. Princess ranks on the same lines as RCCL IMO. Celebrity isn't snooty IMO but I'm rarely moved by such things anyway...

    Anyone ever rent a home....

Padre, Sorry to hear about the party. You maybe able to get your money back if this is part of a chain and I would certainly be writing to their Head Office in an effort to get the money back. If, however, it's a franchise it will be harder but again, not impossible as the main company...

    Anyone ever rent a home....

Padre, Make sure you try Mariner of the Seas next time. It'll knock DCL into oblivion ;) Credit card should always be the preferred method of payment as you get another level of protection. It's unlikely that an individual homeowner will go bust but you never know. I came across a right...

    Anyone ever rent a home....

Shutterbug, Last time I measured it, it was 10.8 miles and 14 minutes from World Drive. This was done at approximately Mid-day a month or so ago. Westridge is in Polk County.

    Anyone ever rent a home....

Didn't realise you were cruising afterwards Padre. I think you'll prefer to stay in the house than go to the hotel though. Orange Tree is about 5 -8 minutes up US 27 from US 192. It will take 20-30 minutes to Disney depending on traffic conditions. The community was built by Greater Homes who...

    Anyone ever rent a home....

Padre, The reason some owners don't like to give their full address is because they perceive it to be a security problem. Whoever you are booking with should be able to show you pictures of the home and tell you the sub-division as a bare minimum. To me, it's not unreasonable to request the...

    Anyone ever rent a home....

Kilee, There is a massive difference between a hotel and a home in regards to the tax. You would have been very concerned if the tax people had visited the house and put one of their bright red stickers on it saying that you can't rent it anymore because the owner hadn't paid the tax. Kilee...

    Anyone ever rent a home....

Kilee, Very concerned to read that one of the houses didn't have an MC. In all likelihood this means the owner is trying to cheat the sales tax system and is prepared to cut corners. It also means the house probably wasn't licensed. What if this had been the only house you had rented ? What...

    Anyone ever rent a home....

Shutterbug, Don't know what makes you think using an MC ups the price. MC's have to be competitive in the market themselves and lets face facts $ 89 per night for a 3 bed house is hardly breaking the bank is it ? Further, renting from either an owner directly or a management company should...
