Eastern Caribbean vs Western on Fantasy

My vote is for Eastern! St. John (via St. Thomas) is my favorite Caribbean stop and I am so over Mexico I can barely stand it. So really it depends on how you feel about each port really. Also there was something awesome about starting off with two days at sea. It made me feel like we were...

    Palo dinner time question

I just Google "sunset times in Nassau" or something like that and see what the time will be. For example I found a site (timezoneguide dot com) that showed sunset on my Palo day will be 6:59 so I booked a 7:00 time and will be up in the area a bit early for drinks/etc.

    Fantasy vs. Magic

I haven't read those threads, but the reality is that underneath it all Magic is approaching 20 years old. Regardless of the amazing cast and beautiful decor the ship is aging and it shows in some places where things haven't been reimagined or in places you cannot see (engine room, plumbing...

first time cruiser - help with Disney Dream Sept 28, 2014 booking

I am on the same cruise as you :-) I never book a room below a public area which means most of deck 10 is off limits for me. Deck 9 on Dream/Fantasy is my favorite.

    Fantasy vs. Magic

Adult areas are more expansive (including Satellite falls mentioned above), bigger spa, different rotation restaurants (as mentioned) but also another adults-only restaurant, Remy. More areas for Concierge-level guests. Bigger (and better in my opinion!) nightclub area. Bigger ship, bigger...

    Palo dinner time question

Another thought I check out sunset calendars during my trip so that I can arrange it while there's still some daylight (if possible) or even during sunset. I had a few Palo dinners looking out into blackness that I finally got smart last time and enjoyed the view also.

    Cafe Card

Yup I have three cards (I tend to forget from year to year) and all four ships are using the same card. Bring it along!

Three Night Dream and Palo brunch

Yes I did that itinerary in January and we did Palo brunch on the sea day. It was fantastic! Great itinerary as I am not a fan of Nassau.

Official thread to keep track of GTY cabins ASSIGNED

#1. What category GTY cabin did you book? 6A #2. What category and room # did you get? 6A, 8178 #3. How many days before the cruise were you assigned your room? 54 #4. Are you happy with your assignment or do you feel like you got a "leftover"- undesirable room/location? It's fine...exactly what...

    So, How is Norwegian?

I'm a big fan of branching out...tried Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Princess and Disney. For me Norwegian was right down there with Carnival. One and done as someone else said! I would much rather spend an extra couple hundred for Disney. Food, entertainment, service, ship quality...

    In room CC gifts

On the Dream did you have a bag like in the picture above or the tote bag with the rope handle?

    Best way to book cruise

Booking onboard gives a discount, room credit and smaller deposit up front. Also I believe using Disney's various credit/debit cards offers credits and/or favorable payment terms as well.

Which deck on Fantasy do you prefer and why?

Haven't stayed on 10 but have on 9 on both Dream and Fantasy. Definitely my preferred deck for these reasons.

Pinel Island Or Bernards Tours in St. Maarten

I know the forum generally loves Bernard's Tours but your experience hinges entirely on how good your driver is. Ours was...pretty bad. I am not saying I wouldn't recommend their tours necessarily, but your results will definitely vary and I wouldn't do it again.

Does DCL have ship specific Tervis Tumlers yet?

Last week on the Dream the only had the Aquaduck one (blue lid) and a "generic" DCL ship with characters on it (red lid). The Castaway Cay one (blue lid) was available on the island only as far as I can tell.

What did you like and what shouldn't be missed on the Fantasy?

Fantasy is my favorite ship! I love Satellite Falls...ACTUALLY a quiet place for adults only vs. Quiet Cove. Also O'Gills is a great addition as is the bigger space of Skyline vs. Dream. Royal Court has mosaic tile where Royal Palace is just paintings. Animator's Palate show where you create...

Closest ship to a Disney ship for those on a tight budget this year?

I'm trying Princess for the first time in January (new ship...Royal Princess) and am very excited. From what I've seen so far planning for Princess while the quality of service, food and ship seem very Disney it seems a little light on kids areas and activities, so not sure what impact that...
