    is TP crazy

I was there last year at the same time, and I'm going again next week. There were very few school-aged children running around in the parks. If there were kids, they were tiny and in strollers. It was a lot of adults (like us). Wait times were indeed quite low. However, we also had a hurricane...

    Hollywood Studios icon?

Disney itself is using Tower of Terror in anything with icons on it, so I'd say ToT.

1 Day ticket for Universal Studios and IOA?

You can indeed buy one-day, two-park tickets at Undercover Tourist. I just bought some myself! Keep an eye out for deals, especially if you're planning a Disney trip too. They've had some great bundles recently. I got my 4-day Disney park hoppers and 1-day two-park Universal tickets for a good...

BOG - sold out for breakfast/lunch/dinner 180 days in advance?

Keep checking. I'm less than 90 days out and just snagged a breakfast ADR at BOG today. It can be done!

Locals... what driving distance do you consider local and how do you enjoy the parks?

I don't live there anymore, but when I did, it was about a 90 minute drive or so, depending on traffic. We'd go 2-3 times a year, whenever we could get the best SoCal resident deal. We'd leave super early in the morning to make it there close to opening, and stay till closing. This was back...

"So this funny thing happened in line at Disney..."

I had one of those small world moments too! While in the single rider line for Everest, who should come in behind me but one of our recent alumni. (I work at a university.) Hadn't seen her since she had graduated a few years prior. We chatted, actually rode together, and chatted a little...

    Dec 21-27 2012 or 1st week of Jan 2013?

You'll still see some Christmas decorations the first week of January. The Osborne Lights are usually still running for a few days into January, and all the trees stay up that first week too, at the parks and the resorts. I don't recall seeing any Santas in Epcot, but there are definitely...

    Dec 21-27 2012 or 1st week of Jan 2013?

The past few years when I've gone, I've gone the first week of January (always arriving after January 1) and it's been wonderful. I do expect this year will be slightly more crowded than some years, but judging purely by ADR availability (amazingly good, even now), I think we'll still be ok. I...

    Dining plan & Chef Favorites

I did the one at Le Cellier a couple weeks ago. After looking at the menu, the entree I wanted was on the chef menu, along with dessert choices I liked. Seemed like a no-brainer to me, since then I got a really great salad too. I wouldn't go into it thinking that was the only option to choose...

Veg. option at Le Cellier lunch?

Just ate there a week and a half ago, and the vegetarian option was the pesto gnocchi. It was quite good, though the portion size was way too big. If you go for it, I'd recommend doing the special chef's menu version, since you get the appetizer too, and the salad from that menu was delicious.

    Caribbean beach QS bfeakfast

I just got back a couple days ago from CBR, and we ate breakfast at Port Royale nearly every day. Due to the policy change with the 2011 dining plan, breakfast only included your entree and a drink. Wasn't a big deal for us, we knew about it ahead of time and planned accordingly. We did watch...

    Signature Dining Recommendations?

I just got back yesterday. We ate at Le Cellier for lunch (ok, so it's only sort of Signature at this point, maybe pre-Signature), and California Grill and Jiko for dinner, of the Signatures we tried. All were very good, and impressed us. Le Cellier was tasty, though the portion size on the...

    Caribbean Beach FAQ part V

Just got back from our stay at CBR last week. The resort is lovely, we thought it was simply beautiful. We loved how quiet it was too. I'm a little surprised to hear people saying how far away Barbados was, we were in Barbados 15 and it was a super quick walk to OPR, not to mention a gorgeous...

Jan 2-5th Crowds? Best few days or disaster?

I'll be there too, in the parks from Jan 3-7. When I went a couple years ago on the same week, the parks were nice and empty, it was perfect. Happy to see the weather reports so warm, we were a little concerned with all the reports of terrible cold. Should be a great week to be there!

    Great Women's Walking/Athletic Shoes

I'm a big fan of Easy Spirit walking shoes. I've gone through a few pairs of those happily. They're a bit pricy, but they last forever. I've recently switched to the Champion branded knock-off versions of the Shape-Ups and Reebok balance ball ones, and they're not bad. I like the...

    January- how crowded??

The last time I was there in January 2009, crowds were very low. It was awesome! Everything in every park was walk-on. We'll be going again next week, and since we're sticking to non-EMH parks mostly, we're expecting super light crowds again. The only day I'm concerned about is next Monday...

    Dining Plan and Vegetarians...

I'm a vegetarian and I've never had a problem eating at any TS restaurant. If there isn't something you like on the menu, talk to your server and explain that you're a vegetarian and would like to speak to the chef about your options. They'll take good care of you. :)

Marrakesh food too exotic for kids/teens?

I remember going there when I was on a high school choir trip, and it's the only restaurant I remember eating in. We all loved it!

is it common to get food poisoning at disney?

I've gotten food poisoning at Disney. I'm fairly positive it was from Marakesh. Because of the quickness of the "illness," and the fact that I was the only one of our group of 15 who ate a particular dish and the only one who got sick, it was definitely food poisoning and not noro or another...

Best ways to use the Snack Credit?

The last time we were in the World, we did the regular dining plan, and used snack credits on Dole Whips, bottles of water, and breakfast items. I imagine we'll do the same thing when we go down there next month. I think we may do more CS breakfasts this time, but that should leave us with...
