Just returned from the Carnival Mardi Gras

We've sailed Carnival twice (Horizon & Panorama) and enjoyed it very much both times. We've also been on NCL twice and RCCL three times. While we easily prefer DCL over all of them, I have to say, if I were building what was - to me, at least - the ultimate cruise experience...I would be...

    Disney Returning to NYC?

Umm...we may or may not have told our travel agent to book us a room on that exact cruise. 🤪

    Disney Returning to NYC?

We did the Dream out of Manhattan this past Halloween and the ship was pretty full. If they sailed in the summer, I'm sure it would be a lot easier to fill than the fall.

What exactly is so bad about the pirate night food, and is anything good?

I think it has the worst appetizer and dessert selections of any menu DCL has. Main course, there's always a beef or chicken option (I don't eat seafood) I can have, but there's no app or dessert that appeals to me. Therefore, it is an easy choice to make it our Palo night. Besides - unpopular...

Change to July 17 Cruise from Barcelona to Southampton

Our itinerary changed as well. We are on the May 25 from Barcelona. They removed Villefranche/Nice as the last port and and instead will visit Palermo as the first port and the other Italian ports are all moved back a day. I'm happy for the change - no desire to go to Villefranche/Nice anyway...

    Tasting Times

Their scheduling does make you scratch your head a bit. I have always believed they should offer tastings - particularly Mixology - late nights, after whatever has taken place in the main lounge (Match Your Mate, or whatever). I think it would sell out every night, except for maybe the last...

Disney Cruise Line Updates Castaway Club Membership Requirements

If they rarely cruise...how is it a problem? This whole thing made zero sense from the beginning. It's hard to see how DCL benefits in any way other than trying to manufacture urgency in people's minds to get them to book cruises over the next few years after they will have increased their...

    Favorite Cruise Directors

Yes! Her and John Charles (miss him a ton as well) clearly enjoyed working together. They did a great "Jolene" on one of our cruises.

Dress Shorts Now Acceptable for Palo Brunch

Me too. Most important thing to note is...itinerary matters! It's the factor that's always been kind of ignored in the countless dress code threads - be it here on Disboards, Cruise Critic, FB, or anywhere else - over the years. This is probably not an issue at all on Alaskan sailings or other...

    Favorite Cruise Directors

Completely agree. Cruise Directors on DCL just don't do much outside of introducing the main shows in the theater and maybe a morning show (do most of them still do that?). It seems a majority of their responsibilities is "behind the scenes" - scheduling and whatnot. They have all been very nice...

Disney Cruise Line Updates Castaway Club Membership Requirements

Hopefully this is true WRT the change to 10 years. At 5 years, the concern was our college-aged children losing their status. My wife and I would probably not be at risk. Would like to see it in black & white, however.

Dress Shorts Now Acceptable for Palo Brunch

This pleases me! A welcome change IMO.

    Hyatt MCO-$505!!

Not sure what's going on in Florida that weekend of April 20. We need to fly to Tampa for a wedding that weekend. The prices on the flights are insane for that weekend, but both the week before and the week after are less than half the price. So something is driving prices up for everything...

    Castaway Club Lanyards

I wish they would go back to the old ones. The Mickey head is too bulky.

    Martini Tasting on Dream

We did it on our Halloween cruise aboard the Dream and had the same drinks. So we must have had the same bartender. We enjoyed it overall.

    Bringing old beer mug

So I guess I can't use my old ESPN Skybox mug. How many of you remember that bar?

Disney Dream - Category 8A (not with partition) or Category 4B?

We love the 8A rooms. We book them all the time on the Dream or Fantasy. Love the extra space as opposed to most other rooms. No split bathrooms is really the only drawback.

    Meeting Place on Wish

Triton's is kind of the Wish's version of D Lounge....except about 1/4 of the size. When they did trivia in Triton's, there were almost as many people out in the hall playing as there were inside Triton's. Still, it should be enough space for you (assuming approx 30 people). You just need to...

Kids who like Edge, and kids who don't like Edge

You never know. Our two kids were completely different with the clubs. Our son didn't really like Oceaneer's and we used to get messages (on the old Wave phones :D) that he wanted to be picked up not long after dropping him off. Our daughter would spend all day, every day in Oceaneer's if we...

Nassau port adventure Pearl Island vs Blue Lagoon?

We've done both, and I preferred Blue Lagoon (recent tragedy aside)
