Which Walt Disney World Guide book is the best?

Bought the Unofficial Guide in 2013 and again in 2018

    I'm a CANADIAN NEED HELP

So you get the actual exchange rate at end of previous day, and there is no 2% cut like my credit card charges me? This could save me a few bucks, not much but everything adds up.

Best Time to Book Airline for March Break

It largely depends how flexible you are. If you book earlier, you will have more choices. If you book later, you could get a better deal but availability might be limited.

Traveling with Delta this time *little bit of complaining here*

I'm booked on Delta for my upcoming trip. Thanks for letting me know. Things like this bug me too. Not for the money, but for the principle of it.

Ever use Costco.ca for car rental?

I've booked a car rental on Costco.ca for 2 reasons: (1) it was cheaper than anywhere else, and (2) they allow spouses to drive for free. Just wondering if anyone else has ever used Costco for their car rental? How did it go?

    Priceline Bids/results

WDW Swan and Dolphin shows up on both Priceline and Hotwire. On Hotwire, it is in the WDW - Bonnet Creek area as a 4 star with the following amenities: resort, free internet, no smoking, fitness center, pool, restaurants, business center and pet friendly. It has 4 of 5 TripAdvisor bubbles...

Great info. Thanks everyone. I'm looking into those options for our trip in the spring.

    Upgrading Canadian tickets

We were debating between 4 or 5 days but updated for 5 because it was cheaper than trying to upgrade later. Doing 5 days will also allow us to go a little easier and see more at MK.

SIM card for Canadians with unlocked phones?

If I have an unlocked phone, how easy is it to buy a sim card for data in the US? Can I just walk into a store and buy, say 5gb of data? I don't have a US address. I have only ever used roaming so I'm not sure of the process.

DL Budget Tips - Western Canada

My tips: It is almost always cheaper to fly out of Seattle than Victoria / Vancouver, so it doesn't hurt to look around. Even BLI might offer some cheap flights. SEA parking at a hotel is cheap, especially if you're staying there before / after your trip. I can usually get 1 free week...

Now that the US Dollar is expensive ...

Does the recent drop in CAD over the US (roughly $1.15 CAD / $1USD), does this impact your plans? We usually go to one of the Disney parks every 2nd year, so we were thinking about 2015, but it is a lot more expensive than I was there in 2013 when the dollar was at par.

Already planning our 2015 trip & need help...

I completely agree with everything you just said. Just want to emphasize the importance of having rental car. Our hotel had a pretty bad shuttle schedule that would have had us arrive at the park later than we wanted to, and force us to leave too early. Your own car gives you freedom to come...

    Off-site 2 bedroom.

We booked a hotel on Hotwire that was a 2 bedroom. I think it was called "Lake Buena Vista Resort". It was great, and I recommend it. Very close, plus free parking, and free wifi. Our place had a full kitchen, laundry facilities, etc. If your'e doing the Hotwire route, this might help you...

How inconvenient is offsite - really?

For those who want to stretch their travel budget, I would strongly recommend off-site. For us, it was a decision that either meant we go to Orlando or go elsewhere. I think we made the right decision. There were 5 of us, and we snagged a 2bedroom, full kitchen unit for around $100/night...

    Planning 1st disney vacation 2adults 3 kids

I was in Orlando recently and same situation. There were 2 adults and 3 kids.My kids are old enough that its getting tough to squeeze them all into a queen bed (which we could do when they were wee ones). We lucked out on Hotwire and got the Lake Buena Vista Resort, which was a 2 bedroom...

    Priceline Bids/results

In hotels that offer different room types, you typically get the cheapest tier. I have probably used Hotwire and Priceline over 50 times, and I make it a habit of asking the front desk clerk exactly what you've been wondering. They always tell me the same thing, 'no'. Again, some hotels...

Cheap Hotel for just one night? Help

Sounds like you're not picky. I'd probably just use Hotwire or even put in a low ball offer on Priceline to see what you get. Use www.hoteldealsrevealed.com to help find out what hotel you might be getting.

    Convince me to stay offsite

Many factors impact your decision to stay onsite or not. I think it really comes down to budget. We have always stayed off site. I've done a handful of trips, and each time I create a spreadsheet to account for the cost of car rentals, gas, parking groceries, etc. I always come to the same...

    Flights Question out of US

Cast a wide net: look for a flight out of either city and nab it if it looks good. For instance, on our last trip, we flew into MCO and out of FLL for less than $100 each way to SEA. Looked at all nearby airlines. I'd book right away if you can get a flight for less than $150 each way...

Alaska Airlines Credit Card for Canadians

Normally I'm a big fan of the Alaska card. I am a card holder and have been for years. Recently my wife signed up for a card too, so we're getting 2 companion fares per year, and we both got the sign up bonus. For my last trip to Disneyworld, we ended up not using it. Why: out of...
