    NYC hotel recommendations

We stayed at the Affinia on 7th Ave, right across from Penn Station/Madison Square Garden. We walked to Times Square, and actually walked through Central Park to the American Museum of Natural History. Not sure how much it cost though, as my mom treated us.

anyone a pro with scholarship stuff?

Actors - good ones don't even have to go to college. Ross Perot - came from money, family had connections, that's why he was successful. I question why he went to a junior college? He was plugging for the naval academy (which he finally got) George Lucas - impressive, but he didn't get...

    Rolling FP's

Lots of people can't access that info with smartphones - the MDE website is notoriously bad while at the parks. (Although for some reason, we've never had a problem?)

anyone a pro with scholarship stuff?

We actually had four recent graduates from our local high school come back and speak to this year's seniors (although I told them juniors would be the better audience) about their freshman college experience. While the two young women attending two different local community colleges talked...

anyone a pro with scholarship stuff?

These two statements contradict each other, BTW. If a student is struggling to pass a course at a university, and then takes an easier version of it at the community college (in order to pass it), then Eng Comp is not Eng Comp, and the universities know that.

What does Ludacris have to do with any of this? Sorry, that just :rotfl:

Spin-off - AP vs Dual Enrollment

Older daughter took 7 AP classes, MIT accepted only one of them. She got all 5's on the ones they didn't accept, BTW, but those were her science/math ones that were part of her major. They accepted her history one, which she only got a 3 on (she skipped a question, and then realized it too late...

    Selfie Sticks

I have to ask - why did you have to go to New Orleans to take his senior picture(s)?

Best day of week to do Universal

Good to know. My older daughter stayed on International Drive and went to Universal with some college friends. They did not like Citywalk at night, as they were harrassed by guys, a lot. They felt safe (they were all rugby players) but annoyed by the crowds/atmosphere. They were probably there...

    Teachers: College Search

Getting secondary degrees/certification in Special Education, ABA, or ESL/ELL would be the way to go here in Massachusetts. Not sure what it looks like in other states, but that's all that is getting advertised for job offerings in MA on SchoolSpring right now.

Best day of week to do Universal

Ok, that makes sense to me - half days would take 3 days for us, as we are not into the super-strong roller coaster rides, but have never felt the urge to go to US until DA was built. I guess two nights onsite would work, if we got a good discount. Not sure if we could get into Citywalk though -...

Fake service dogs a real problems

I saw that case too - I didn't see the results though, did you? Locally, we have had a family fundraise to get a 'service dog' for their autistic child. They mention him bringing it to school, etc. Only problem is, the description of what they want it to do is definitely along the lines of a...

Just back - first trip with DAS

They don't grant DAS based on diagnosis, only on needs. Doesn't matter if you have a transplant or whatever, you need to be able to explain at Guest Srvices why waiting in a standard queue would not work for you. Realize that there are many other situations at WDW where you will encounter...

Does this video depict level 6 crowds??

Looks like a 6 to me - and it is a lot more crowded than that in August, even at the end of the month.

anyone a pro with scholarship stuff?

Does that tuition scholarship pay for room and board, fees, health care, books, travel expenses, etc, or just the line item on the bill called 'tuition'? That's what I was getting at. You can get tuition paid for, but there are other expenses as well, not covered under the term tution. Wondered...

Best day of week to do Universal

But what do you do for the rest of your trip? Or do you go for just a couple of days? IOA takes us half a day, but thinking with the new HP stuff at US it will be a full day and then maybe another half day for US. Since we have to buy a park-to-park ticket we'll be doing at least one full day...

anyone a pro with scholarship stuff?

Around here, 'full tuition' means just that - only tuition (around $860 for a state school) and does not touch the various 'fees' tacked on. For example, there's a $4k+ curriculum fee. Does it mean that your son got a full scholarship because of ACT scores, or just a tuition scholarship...
