My Yard Goes Disney on HGTV

I thought it was pretty neat, and I'm looking forward to future episodes, especially the pirate one. I think anyone who loves Disney has fantasized at least a little about how cool it would be to have something like it in their yards. I wonder how they choose the families/yards for the...

    Vent about my dad :(

Sorry to hear that, unfortunately too many of us know how family hurts one another. I like LuvSulley's response, "ask him why he's such a jerk" -- best delivered as an immediate reply in a "how's the weather" tone of voice.

    Am I being a helicopter parent? final update, p. 12 post 174

I wouldn't like to send my child off in that situation. He's way too young to have a clue about looking after himself.

    Suffered a miscarriage this week

I'm sorry for your loss, I know how difficult it can be. We never know what the future has in store for us though -- I lost a baby when I was between 16-17 weeks, after trying to conceive for years. After that I had been ready to give up trying when I found I was pregnant again. My second son...

Do You think DISNEY has gone down hlll the last few years?

I have spent many happy vacations at Disney World over the last 15 years, spending time in many of the moderate and premium resorts. On March 13 and 14th, we spent two nights at Port Orleans Riverside following a cruise. It's been about 4.5 years since I was at Disney, and I have to say I was...

Pictures of our new puppy :)

How cute she is! Glad your other dog loves her! I don't see the pit bull in her either. I hope you have a very happy life together!

How can people be so mean.

A dog is usually the "kid" who loves you best! You'll always be the center of their world.

Question for those of you who have sailed on other lines?

One other good thing on Celebrity was how greatly the TV viewing options have improved -- for the times you're relaxing in your cabin, on demand is available with pretty good choices, and real time news. The Japanese earthquake and tsunami occurred while we were on board.

How can people be so mean.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Just a few weeks ago I had to let my 14 yo Golden Retriever girl go, so I know. It was a horrid decision to make. The thing that is saving me now is that I realize she was in more pain that I admitted (bad back end, she could barely get up by herself) and I truly...

Question for those of you who have sailed on other lines?

Which line lets you dress up or not? We were just on Celebrity Solstice (March 6) and we were thoroughly tired of the dress up game. It was the first time on Celebrity and they actually prohibited you from participating in too many things based on dress. So, while the ship was lovely and the...

Our dog bit our neighbor last night -- UPDATED POST 137, PAGE 10

What a stressful thing to deal with. I can't imagine why the neighbor reached out to pet him after he had just bitten you as he did though.

Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery for your friend and a great trip for you and the kids. I hope you'll all be planning your next trip soon, and nothing will interfere with that.

Putting the house on the market.

Interesting thread! I wonder how many lives are on hold because we seem to be "stuck" in one place or another. I know mine is! OP, I would get a piece of swing set chain so you can lower the height of your hanging baskets a bit on the porch. You can then put the hanger in the link that...

Speaking of being the cranky old neighbor....

There are brothers (oldest appears about 9) in my condo complex whose mother apparently does not watch them. Their latest fun thing to do is blow up fire crackers in a glass jar and leave the broken glass in the middle of the road. There are broken toys and food? (watermelon rinds, bread...

Suggestions for comfortable shoes in the parks?

I like Clarks too and wearing socks is also a good idea. My first trip to WDW (in 1996) I wore comfortable loafers that felt like slippers, but no socks. Before long, my entire baby toe was a giant blister.

Coupon opinions needed - Big work order with Ent book

I agree, keep it in a kitty to cover shortages and gas. You're already doing everyone a favor by picking up the orders, and couponing is not without effort either.

My poor dog just passed away

He was beautiful, I'm sorry for your loss. My dog is an old, old woman for her breed, I know that I'll be facing it one of these days too.

    items stolen from luggage

I have cruised many times and on one cruise, we saw young boys going through people's luggage in the halls. It wasn't a Disney cruise, it was either RCCL or Carnival, but the same thing could happen anywhere. I felt like popping those little buggers. I really try to pack light now, I'm not as...
