Yes, it does bypass PA. I didn't realize the Parkway was the same as the Turnpike, and I assumed I-95 would be your main road down through NJ.

There are several Marriott brand hotels and a Hilton Garden Inn off exit 160 around Florence, SC. Although I've never stayed at any of these I've never had a bad experience at any of these brands.

We went in July 2 years ago and it was great. I always perspire a lot in warmer temperatures, however I was very comfortable & wasn't perspiring in the nighttime temperatures. Although the price has increased about $8-10 from 2 years ago, we have booked it again for our July trip this year.
