Timing for 2021 - August or "NJ Week"?

Being from NJ, most of our trips have been during NJ week. The crowds have gotten heavier over the years, but I've found them to be manageable, especially if you stick to the advice of the experts and get to the parks early. Keeping in mind that most NJ schools only have off on Thursday and...

    September Stay opinions

We split stays most of our vacations since we travel down in our motor home, take advantage of Fort Wilderness for 2-3 days (which is awesome) and then switch to a DVC property for the balance of our stay. The only reason we enjoy this is because we like the contrast of the two types of resorts...

    Help me pick a resort...

I'm the planner in my family - and so I appreciate your dilemma. With the understanding you probably can't go wrong with either, we've stayed at both and for whatever reason, my younger children (who were about the ages of your sons at the time) vastly preferred BLT over VGF. They've never...

First time at the Fort since 1994

We are DVC members, too, but find a way to spend a few days at the Fort whenever we can. We simply love it there. The atmosphere in the campground is so different from the resorts. Feels like it's 1950 there - with much bigger RVs. Also, we never fail to meet interesting fellow-campers. Our...

    Crowd Calendar Comparison

I use Touring Plans for most of my trips and I find that they are generally accurate. In reality, though, I just use them as a suggestion and plan accordingly (dining, FP). I have had instances where the "best park" changes but as long as I have FP for the rides I want and get to the parks...

Best DVC Resort for a Party of 9?

There is absolutely nothing bad about either OKW or SSR. SSR is my home resort. I love it! As for OKW, one of our favorite trips was when we stayed there and as I mentioned, it was the first DVC resort I thought of for this trip. The thing is that I'm not sure how likely it will be that my...

Best DVC Resort for a Party of 9?

Wasn't even thinking in terms of bathrooms. You're right - that's a great idea. Like one of the PP, my first thought was OKW and although that's still an option, I was looking for something that screamed "Disney" a little more than SSR or OKW. I want my little nephews eyes to light up when...

Best DVC Resort for a Party of 9?

We're taking my sister and her young family with us on our WDW vacation next year. To give them a break on the costs of a resort, we've decided to "bite the bullet" and all bunk in together in a 2BR villa. Assuming we can swap to a different resort at the 7mo time period (currently, we're...

    Early December trip?????

We went the first week of December a few years ago and loved it. Christmas was in full swing and we made a point of taking a horse ride around FW. The weather was dry the whole time, but I will say that it got cool most evenings. I would not hesitate to go that same time again but it did...

    Planning our 1st Trip...Questions

I can't really speak to Universal. But as for WDW, your plans seems good. We don't get park hopper passes anymore because we found we didn't park hop enough to justify the cost. My kids are about the same age as yours and they still love going to the parks. As it is your first trip - a few...

Kidani Standard View vs. Old Key West

Having stayed at both, either is a good choice. At Kidani, we had a Savannah view and found that we stopped in other locations to look at the animals anyway. The only time the view made any difference was when we were sitting having our coffee in the morning and an occasional animal would...

    WDW in late August

Happy to know that so many enjoy going this time of year. Although the weather is not optimal for comfort, my family is not really concerned about the heat. Our bigger concern was the rain and it seems like that doesn't really disrupt to much, on the whole.

    WDW in late August

This input is great. Florida weather is so unusual - we've been in November where it was in the 90's for days at a time and other times when it was in the 50's. I just don't want to blind-sided by something I didn't consider for our first August trip.

    WDW in late August

These boards have never failed me for good advice. We almost always travel in the Fall when the weather is milder. However, next year because of school schedules, late August may be the only time we can go for a full week. We know it will be hot ... but how bad is it? Does it rain often...

50's PTC...can they go easy on the interaction??

Our children are older but still enjoy this restaurant (as do I). Given their ages, the interaction is not as welcome as it once was. So, we asked the hostess to tell our server to tone it down "just a bit". It wasn't an issue at all. The server interacted just enough to make it fun but not...

    RCL Oasis vs. Disney

I really hope the OP is right because my brother and his family are joining us on our DCL cruise in May. Last year, they (without kids) did a cruise on the Oasis and loved it and if DCL doesn't measure up by comparison - I'll never hear the end of it! For what it's worth, I don't doubt DCL...

    Alternative Pirate Outfits

My boys were about the same age on our first cruise. Just bought inexpensive long-sleeve black t-shirts with black pants and headband. All were worn again (except for the headband).

Cruise Photos for a Big Group

Thanks. I'm no longer confused about how it works. Unfortunately, this is going to work awkwardly for my family since we are broken out into 4 staterooms.

Cruise Photos for a Big Group

We have a fairly big group going - there are 10 of us across 4 staterooms. We are all family, including my family, my father and my brother and his wife and children. We really don't want a separate photo plan since we are there together and expect that most of our pictures will contain some...

    Breakfast In the Dining Rooms

Early risers here so perhaps that's why I didn't find Cabana's overly crowded. Don't get me wrong, it was bustling - but never to the point of annoyance. I will say, however, we mixed it up and went to the MDR several times, as well.
