I agree with what many of the other posters said about the benefits of sharing a table. We've been on 10 cruises (3 on DCL), and the one time we were assigned a table for 2 (not by request), we had wished it had been different. But the OP's wife really seems adamant and not up for trying this...

I think $40-50/couple is about right. Here' why. My wife and I also like to cruise on Celebrity, and their larger ships have a specialty restaurant of comparable quality to Palo - perhaps a little nicer. They have a $30/pp charge to eat there, and there is no expectation of any tip beyond...

We cruised on points once, and it was fine. But, then we booked on board and rented our points to pay the balance of our fare. We used FAR less points this way. It probably took about 1 hour of my time when it is all added together, and there were no hassles, etc.

We've been on 8 crusies, and until our last one on DCL, we ALWAYS had the late seating. We enjoyed spending a little extra time at port or at the pool deck when it was quiet and the sun not so strong. There were a few downsides that caused us to try main seating during this last cruise...

I won't comment on whether you'll disturb other passengers; my thought is that there are plenty of times where it is quiet on the sports deck. The guitars will fit under the bed.

On our recent cruise, we signed up for the early seating for the first time ever. We liked it, although we did miss being able to relax by the pool after everything was quiet.
