Suggestions for a couple in their 60s & 70s, please?

They have not been asked directly to go yet. I am trying to avoid their knee-jerk reluctance by being able to provide them with all the information they need to be able to make the decision that is best for them. My wife admonished me to not pressure them in any way, and I will not. I just...

Suggestions for a couple in their 60s & 70s, please?

These are all great ideas! Please keep 'em coming! Does anyone have any positive stories to share, regarding overcoming the reluctance or concerns of older folks, and a MAGIC MOMENT during your trip with them? Or, were YOU in the "I'm not sure that this would be a fun trip for me" camp...

Suggestions for a couple in their 60s & 70s, please?

We are planning a family trip, consisting of two grandparents, two of their children and spouses, and three grandkids aged 8, 11, and 13. The grandparents do not travel much, and I believe have it in their minds that Disney is nothing but princesses and cartoon characters (they have never...

I need help convincing two "hermits" to go to WDW.

OP here. Maybe "hermits" was a bit too strong... "Set in their ways" and "happy at home" might be better. My MIL's mobility issues are what keep them at home more than anything else; they have talked for YEARS about going back to Europe to travel, but that just isn't going to happen...

I need help convincing two "hermits" to go to WDW.

Hello there! My in-laws, in their 60's, very rarely leave their home. Once about every 5 years they may make the 12 hour drive to visit their out-of-state kids, but that is about it. They do not go on vacation at all. I am planning a trip to WDW with two of their three children, and...

Beloved Family Pet Unlawfully Shot & Killed by Animal Control

Putting a dog in a fenced-in back yard is a very common practice. And, sure, dogs DO get out. These dogs were gentle, loving, well-trained, and with great overall temperament. See this video of Bella with Jayden, her "sister": http://www.youtube.com/user/tjdaniels24#p/a/u/1/d0oudcU2OoQ

Beloved Family Pet Unlawfully Shot & Killed by Animal Control

Please read this, comment, and share the links with your friends. A friend of mine went to dinner last Thursday, only to return home to find that his beloved Bella had been shot and killed by a Sheriff's Deputy of Cabarrus County, NC. Why? Because he didn't want to take the time to try to...

Hidden Mickey for Haiti REVEALED!!! - $2035 raised.

Well, I think that it is time to share the location of the Hidden Mickey for Haiti to others. I hope that, in some small way, this idea has inspired some of you to come up with creative ways that you can use your resources to help make positive change in the world. With the help of dozens of...

Is the Dining plan worth it?

We just returned from a 6-night trip. I DO NOT think that the basic dining plan was worth it. Here is why: 1) Dessert is included for 2 meals a day. We rarely eat dessert, and since the Disney portions are generous anyway, this is just more overeating. 2) Two FULL MEALS a day is more...

Anyone know someone who had a stem cell transplant?

Regarding stem cells, I know the previous posters are speaking of REAL doctors and hospitals, but BEWARE of the fraudsters out there who are preying upon the desperate... Sadly, a high school classmate of mine and her boyfriend fled to South Africa in an attempt to avoid prosecution on 51...

    Hidden Mickey's.....

I see them EVERYWHERE now. They just jump out. Pool balls, spare change, restaurant plates, etc. Crazy! :)

Hidden Mickey for Haiti REVEALED!!! - $2035 raised.

I have been "AWOL" from the forums for many days now, but just updated all the recent donations. As of this writing, $1955 has been raised! As I said to someone yesterday, this is not a huge amount in the grand scheme of things, but it surely will make a huge affect to the people whose lives...

Help with a verb sentence riddle/challenge my 8th grader was given by his teacher

I'll expect a letter of resignation from the teacher in my in-box tomorrow.:) Not well executed on her part, methinks. What a way to turn off minds to probblem solving, critical thinking, and imagination. >sigh< Never mind the fact that she is clearly WRONG ("Swing!"):sad2:

Hidden Mickey for Haiti REVEALED!!! - $2035 raised.

No, not really. Most of the folks who donated as a result of this donated before. I think that they are simply digging a little deeper in a "what they hay" spirit. C'mon, this is something of a fun novelty that is actually producing very real and very positive results. $1,000 toward relief...

Regarding your two dogs that I found...

Wow, we might actually be COMMUNICATING now :) Well, IT DID... remember, I have spent the past two days taking care of these BIG dogs (and cleaning up their BIG accidents), doing all I could to hunt down their "parents." When I finally reached them, I was incredulous at how apathetic they...

Regarding your two dogs that I found...

Are you simply trolling and fanning the flames? I do not believe ANYWHERE did I state or imply any superiority to anyone, with the exception of the aforementioned irresponsible dog owners and the guy chucking ice at a 4 pound puppy. Green Tea and Nuke, you two just seem to be having a great...

Regarding your two dogs that I found...

What has happened to American society? Have we gotten so hung up with political correctness and not wanting to offend people that we no longer have the courage to say things that ARE offensive to people who have done things to deserve some scolding? Is this because of the "sparing of the rod"...

Regarding your two dogs that I found...

The only way is if they would have wandered back to their house. The odds of them doing that weren't great. The odds of them doing that without being at risk of traffic: none. I got the word out to all of the folks these people could have tried to call, and put signs all around them. That's...

Regarding your two dogs that I found...

Kathie, they DID NOT HAVE a tattoo, a chip, or anything on their collars. These dogs would have been put to sleep. 72 hours... two-thirds of that had elapsed already.
