"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

my aunt and uncle live in tellico village, i say knoxville because it's more known. We are coming from minneapolis so if it weren't for them i'd drive thru nashville to chattanooga. 75 thru georgia is possibly the worst part of the drive. straight and flat. and my experience is state...

"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

for my august trip i'm staying the night near knoxville. normally i'd take 75 south from there but i'm considering taking 40 to 26 to 95. google estimates my trip goes from 9.5 hours to 11 hours. i'd miss atlanta though and i've done 75 twice, a change of scenery is attractive to me. arrival...

    Trip Report - February 2023

me too. this year will be first road trip with a van under 50k which is only because my old one was totaled by someone running red light in 2021. replaced with new because used minivans prices were outrageous.

    First time driving - 3yo and 6mo

when i drove with my twin 1 year olds, we just listened to their cues. made sure to get them out of the seats when we stopped. we did not force stops at certain intervals. if they were sleeping or content and there was no reason to stop we kept driving.

ugh. will have to watch this as i will be on it from lexington to knoxville. no good option to avoid without adding a lot of time. on the way down we leave later afternoon early evening and drive all night. i figure i'll be on it somewhere between 4a and 7a depending on when we leave. so...

"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

3 of the 4 legs i've hit on the weekend and taking the loop around town wasn't too bad. one time we went thru town and it was a crawl but waze suggested the route and i've learned to listen to waze. seem to always hit slow traffic on that stretch on I-75 immediately south of atlanta. If we...

    Should I use a TA?

I have done it both ways. pre pandemic My TA's agency used to get their hands on some seriously discounted room rates. that by itself made it a no brainer. My august trip I priced out on disney website and then contact TA to see what she would come up with and it was the same. I still went...

    Help! Room not assigned….

with how easy it is to transfer money electronically i'm don't see why you wouldn't use a CC to get the rewards. could instantly pay the charge if you wanted. those 3% cash back and 5% cashback offers add up

    New Summer Offer available

i rebooked my stay with this. due to needing two rooms, one for 9 nights and one for 6, we had to have both res be the same category and standard was not available. switching and being able to book a cheaper category shaved about 1900 off the room cost besting the 1600 in dining credits.

    French quarter vs Riverside

i did FQ about 23 years ago and riverside 4 times since. i think the size of the resort is overblown. sure it's big but people speak as if you have 45 minute walk from the main building to some of the rooms. at most it's 10. anyway, riverside for me is a little more relaxed. the main pool...

    Return of the Dining Plan?

Obviously the room discounts are not out for august but assuming 20%, not seeing 25%, for my dates, aug 19 thru 26 river view, i believe rack rate is 2402, 20% is 1921. the credit is worth 220 more. since i'm feeding 5 on this trip, i think we will easily purchase $700 dollars worth of food...

    Return of the Dining Plan?

i just booked this for august, 7 nights at POR and i'm getting $700 in dining credits. i think that is more than 20% off room rate currently offered and expected to be extended to august. there are 4 of us so it won't be hard to use those credits.
