Would you go in July or August??

Annual passes make it easy to go after school gets out. Nice treat for the kids for going back to school. August is typically a lot hotter than July. Then there is SWGE. I'd aim for July

    Late May weather?

Lived within 15 miles of Disneyland all my life. No matter what the high, and it can vary a lot in May, it gets cold when the sun goes down. May is generally not what I would call hot (high 70's maybe 80), and it can be down right cool in the evenings.

Anyone else starting to think Christmas??

A huge chunk of the extended family Christmas gifts are already purchased, labeled and ready to go (Target toy sales). The teens will get i-tunes or money gift cards, it's just so hard to buy for them. Mostly have MIL, DH, DD, nephews and my dad left. One nephew and my dad have back to back...

Planning a trip to San Francisco

We stayed at the Holiday Inn at Fisherman's Wharf last year...it's not fancy, but it has a really great location. You can purchase a transportation pass at the Walgreen's drugstore on the corner..it's good for the trolley cars and the buses. I don't think it works for BART.... If you want to...

    Buying used college textbooks

In some case the international editions will hae the end of chapter questions/assignments in a different order than the US edition. This can be a problem...but your student can check with other students or in the library (schools usually have a reserve copy in the library) to see if they...

    Restaurant.com--House of Blues/Fire+Ice

Restaurant.com is having 70% off with the code SAVE. The House of Blues at Downtown Disney and the Fire + Ice at Gardenwalk both have certificates avaliable. I have purchased these in the past and not had any problems using them...just be sure and read the terms and conditions for each...

    Budget wedding gift

I love those Tiffany items. They might be my new "go to" gifts. I wouldn't worry about how much you spend, if $50 is it, then it's $50--with the best wishes of a friend. If I have time for shipping, I shop Shannon. They usually have some Waterford on sale. Right now they have this...

Kids, band & instrument rental fees

My BFF bought band instruments for her kids at a pawn shop or on Craigslist. She paid very little for some very good instruments.

    Summer Bounty Recipes

I've never made the soup in the crock pot, but I imagine it would work. I might cook the tomato mix a bit in frying pan and then toss everything in the crock pot, but except for chicken, I brown any meat I put in the crockpot.... My D makes the tortilla strips--heat oven to about 400, spray...

    Summer Bounty Recipes

I use the tomatoes to make the base for Ckn Tortilla Soup. I make it in batches and freeze it flat in ziploc bags. 3 ripe tomatoes 2 cloves of garlic 1/2 large onion sprigs of cilantro--hmm maybe about 4 or so 1 chipolte pepper (comes in adobo sauce in a can--look near the salsa) 1...

    Need puppy cage issues help

Our standard poodle was like this as a puppy. I have never seen a dog react to a crate like that---the breeder assured us the puppy was crate trained, but it was a huge problem. I just quit using the crate. I got a child safety gate to close the puppy in the kitchen when I left. She slept in...

Vent, blathering, whatever you want to call it about family-Update p4, post 52 and ?

WOW! Spending $1500 more a month than income! Time for SIL to start contributing. At least paying full price for the child care and some rent. I completely understand why you wouldn't be thrilled to "loan" $1000. It won't begin to solve the problems. A bankruptcy lawyer and a perhaps a...

    Budget gardening

The best budget tip is not to plant....I mean do not plant more than you can use. You will need to buy/water all those extra plants. So to keep it budget friendly, plant what you can use. For me, that's 3 to 4 tomato plants (2 cycles, I have tomato plants nearly year round), basil (can't cook...

Poster board and loose leaf paper??

I wouldn't buy the Target paper--the quality was horrible last year. Walgreens has a large package (hmm 280 sheets?) for about $1.50 this week. Don't know about posterboard. maybe Micheal's with a coupon?

    The Big "D"

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I understand you are in shock, and in tears. Listen to the posters who care and who have been there, done that. Protect yourself and your daughter. Get a lawyer. Go look for financial documents and make copies (bank statements, credit card statements...

    Ideas needed

Spaghetti dinners are popular, and low cost. You do need a health dept approved kitchen--check a church, senior center, etc. Good Luck to you and your family!

    Girl Scouts Help

Keep in mind the Girl Scout program is changing...you will want to learn all you can about the Brownie Journey (I'd do the Leadership one first). It's a great program. And the try it book is a wonderful resource. Follow your Council's rules and talk to people at the Service Unit meetings...

OT Cruise to Alaska...Help Me Plan

You need to spend some serious time at Cruise Critic . com You can get all the information you need there. I've done the Alaska cruise twice, love it. Keep in mind that you will want to do some shore excursions, but you can book those without the cruise line. I can't recommend Cruise Critic...

What would make you buy this house

Clean, clean, clean. No animal smells, and no animals around. The landscaping sounds great. Declutter, including closets, kitchen cabinets. When we were house hunting I really disliked going into dark houses. Open the drapes and clean the windows. Let in the light. If you are in a...

Daughter will be attending a PUBLIC HS...what to wear??

I'd get her an outfit or two, just to fit in the couple of days. It's likely to be warm enough to wear summer clothes, so check out the sale racks at American Eagle, Forever 21, Macys. Just a couple of items can make a big difference. Our D is 16, tall, slim can wear anything. HATES...
