    Older trick-or-treaters?

I really wonder what kind of neighborhood some people here live in where they get surly and pushy trick or treaters. It's a shame, of course, but a good reminder that not everyone lives in nice areas. Luckily, we're in a very nice area, and even though a good number of teens dress up and come...

Has anyone sean the teal pumpkin pledge

I feel like this idea stemmed from parents who feel that their kid "deserves" to be able to eat everything they get from trick-or-treating, just like their peers. Sorry, but I just don't buy into that. Honestly, there are too many allergies and concerns out there to think that anyone could...

Has anyone sean the teal pumpkin pledge

I grew up with an allergy (long since outgrown). My parents just switched out what I couldn't have with stuff that was safe. While it's nice to offer a variety of treats (we do because I love buying all kinds of treats), I don't think it needs to be a "pledge" type of thing. It's not like kids...

My 6yo came home from school with a goose egg on his head, no note or call. WWYD?

I'd guess that either she didn't know that he hit head head or he is calling someone else "the teacher." I teach older elementary school aged kids, and even they often call any adult around "the teacher."

Ok, which rule is "the rule"?

I hope someone tells NFLDERS, Domo, and every other non-US poster that they better quit posting! :rotfl:

    The Pope is coming.....

Dig your heels in if you want, but so far, nobody has agreed with you. That really says something.

    The Pope is coming.....

Then that makes it especially important to consider other possibilities instead of making assumptions.

    The Pope is coming.....

Philly is hosting the World Meeting of Families (I think that's title), which is why he is coming to Philly. There are several events spanning the weekend where he will speak, and streets are being shut down for days to prepare to accommodate the huge crowds.

    The Pope is coming.....

Almost every news report on his visit mentions the gridlock expected. Her intent was pretty obvious to most. But instead of assuming she was beIng rude, you could have just asked for clarification.

    teacher question

Since you started this thread to ask for advice, and you received so many wonderful ideas, it would be great if you could share what strategies you were able to implement so far that have been useful.

    Did not get paid

I used to be in HR and am very well aware that most companies will not release much information on former employees. However, references are hardly the only bridges you can burn, you know. Maintaining a good network in your field of interest is critical for future job hunting. It's all about...

Stocking up on Disney stuff to use then give away. :)

"Waste my time over-analyzing" comes across as a bit of a slam against those us who think the OP's plan is weird.

Stocking up on Disney stuff to use then give away. :)

Huh. I don't think I said I was analyzing anything. My first reaction would be that it was weird if they didn't have kids who were interacting with mine. It's a gut reaction, which is pretty much the complete opposite of over analyzing. I really think there is room for different opinions...

Wow, way to burn bridges, OP. Hope you never make a mistake at your job.

Anti-Gay-Marriage Clerk Kim Davis Returns to Work TODAY!

Agreed! LuvsJack continually asks posters to refrain from making assumptions about Davis' version of faith, all while generalizing Christianity! Unless she is an expert in every Christian denomination, she needs to stop attempting to speak for us all.

Stocking up on Disney stuff to use then give away. :)

I think the weird factor comes in for me in the fact that you will have no connection to these kids, and it's not like they aren't enjoying a treat already by being in WDW. If you donated things to a hospital or shelter, you would be helping kids who could really use the pick-me-up.

Do you have kids? If so, handing an extra glow stick to another child who is talking to yours is very nice. If you don't have kids, this seems a bit weird to me.

    So disappointed at Disney

Huh. So now the OP not only thinks that CMs should somehow give her daughter-in-law information that doesn't actually exist, but now she thinks she can control whether the thread continues? Interesting.

High School student arrestsed for bringing homemade clock to school.

What?? Creative people don't just jump directly to inventing something new. How do you think creative and ingenious people get their start? They learn, and they often learn by re-creating existing things.

    why don't parent's listen ?

I teach, I have many friends who are teachers, and I have kids. I'm shocked that the teacher is going to take it upon herself to provide snacks for every child every day. If anything, I could see the school might agree to provide snacks, not the classroom teacher. Even then it seems highly...
