We do. Our schools here are pretty nice about it. We give the teachers advanced noticed, ask them what the kids would be learning during that week and make sure that we work that into our vacation. We also ask for homework that will be missed, so they don't feel the need to have to play catch...

Tokyo for sure!! HKDL is smaller and "quieter", but some of that actually depends on the time of year it is as well. My son and daughter and I did it easily in a day with so so crowds and didn't feel as if we missed anything. For us, it was a nice experience, but made me miss WDW! Also...

I think it depends on your preference. Would you feel better about going if it was closer to Halloween, or does it not matter? If it doesn't matter all that much, I'd probably try a Tuesday or a Thursday.. since it might have a less likelyhood of selling out and therefor being less crowded...
