    FANTASY ARRIVAL THIS AM..

I'm the one reporting the snorkeling incident on another board. I know the family. They have a child that was with them on the ship, but the child was not involved. The mother was evac'd. Without going into personal details, she is still in icu but is improving. If you are praying for this...

    Uber Experts?

We used uber to get to universal every day a few weeks ago rather than paying for parking. We were staying about 2 miles away and each one way trip was between $5-8. We never waited more than 5 minutes.

how do you get picked for ollivanders?

From what I've seen, he's the right age range and has a good shot. We've watched 4 times, and every time they chose a 12ish year old kid. I think the little ones may get upset when they get laughs from the others during the ceremony and they aim for a little older. Our kids were picked because...

Interactive wands- is there a battery life?

Yes. I used a year old wand a couple of weeks ago. I did get the tip replaced, but that took less than 5 minutes at Ollivander's wand repair in Daigon Alley. I just asked an attendant in the store to replace it.

First Time Visiting In January - What to expect?

We were there last January. We had a fabulous time but yes, you still need a strategy! The same advice you read for other times of the year still apply. Rope drop is your friend and you should still utilize FP during midday as lines will still be long. I think the main advice that we were able...

Sci Fi milk shakes as beverage on dining plan (not dessert)?

Yes, as of late January 2015. In fact, our waiter brought us an extra milkshake for the littles to share as well. We didn't ask for that and I wouldn't have expected it--he was just an awesome waiter. :)

    Fitbit users - question

Mine says between 1600-2500 calories burned per day, depending on activity. I hang out in the 2100 range for the most part. A low step day for me would be 7000. My high days are 24k or so, and I average right around 15-17k. I keep my weight set at about 5 lbs less than I actually am. I have it...

2 hours for MK on arrival day with 5-yr-olds...choices?

For our 5 year old's first few hours in the park, we walked up through the castle, we did Enchanted Tales, rode 7DMT, met Ariel and rode Under the Sea. We hit small world and the carousel on a whim as well and she loved those way more than Ariel and Belle. Go figure. ;)

Going to Hoop-Dee-Doo from Pop: Drive or Disney Transport?

The buses that will take you back to the resorts run after the last two shows. They do make several stops but it is luck of the draw. Some of the buses were packed. Our bus was almost empty and we were the first stop. We were 'home' very quickly after the show.

    Need quiet WDW hotel room

We were happier with the motel structure of ASMu than we were with the hotel structure at akl. The hallway noises were loud at akl. We heard nothing at ASMu. No toilets, no suitcases going down the walkway, no loud talking. There was someone staying above us because they dropped beads or...

For those who stayed on property the first week of February this year........

We were at ASMu from Jan 31-Feb 5. Lots of dance groups but I was pleasantly surprised at the behavior. The girls were polite and well-behaved. Practice was done in the parking lot well away from the building. We never once heard them in our room. The one time they were singing on the bus, the...

    Unilateral hearing loss

For my unilateral loss kid, he only wore his aid during sit down lunches/dinners when we were trying to converse. Everything else is so loud he's overwhelmed and overstimulated as it is. He wore headphones in line at times to counteract the overwhelming background noise there. Lines in enclosed...

    Kids' entitlements on DDP

Bog lunch, the littles got a cookie. We saved those and shared our cupcakes. Mostly for cs, we 'worked the system'. We got the kids meals at places that don't have a kid menu-Casey's at mk, min and bills at HS. For instance, at HS, we ordered the kids a pretzel hot dog with a shake as their...

    Cochlear Implant at WDW

My son has a bone anchored hearing aid implant--it is made by cochlear but *not* a cochlear implant. It's a titanium peg and a magnet in his head. We were told that once osseointegration occurred, he's pretty much good to go for almost everything. My advice would be to talk to his audiologist...

    When Does It Start?

Dining credits start at the time you check in and are good until midnight of the day you check out. The front desk recommended we go get our mugs right away so that we'd know if everything was active and ready and we could return to the desk easily if there was an issue.

Having your kiddo wait while you ride ..

It depends on the 10 year old. My current 11 yo? No problem leaving him like that at 10. My current 9 year old? There's no way I could do what the OP is suggesting with him in a year. He would be on the other side of the park by the time I got back! My 6 year old? I could probably leave her in...

How long will Test Track take if I go there straight at RD?

On January 31, according to camera photos, we were sitting in our car ready to take off at 9:20. I have 3 kids and we took a bit to get there--no front of the line rush for us. Our photo of my kid's car showing his place was done at 9:27. We looped it and the next end of ride car photos were at...

The KINDEST thing that you've seen/experienced at WDW???

We had so many kind moments from both guests and CMs on our last trip that my husband created a new slogan for them. "Disney. They make that s**t magic." ;) 1. A family at MK offered us two rider swap passes-one for 7D and one for Space Mountain. We passed on the favor later with two different...
