The areas are very unique and quite enjoyable on their own. I would say that you may miss alot without the back knowledge of the books, but it shouldn't stop you from wandering through. I listened (during my commute) to all of the books just before our trip last year. I could not watch more...

Buy them as you enter the park (or maybe at resort) I purchased mine on Amazon and wished I had waited. The park lanyards come with a horizontal zipper type holder. Mine came with a vertical holder that is just a tad too tight to get the cards out easily.

I let my 14 & 16 year old do one last roller coaster and head back on the boat by themselves. They were fine. It feels like a pretty closed bubble to me. I had to remind myself that I walked everywhere at 14 by myself with no cell phone (back in the stone ages ).

Wonderland...i was thinking the same thing. Maybe a new years card is in order this year instead! Plus, it's one less thing to do in December and I enjoy getting random Christmas cars in January (makes it a little less dreary).
