Rooms not cleaned daily at AKL?

I am back at WDW after 10 year away. I have a split stay, spending a week at AKL, and then a week at POFQ. AKL is expensive, but I wanted to splurge to celebrate retirement. My room was cleaned my first day, while I was at the park, but was not cleaned yesterday, my second day. I was...

Trying to reserve Mears but don't know what drop-off to put

I am trying to book with Mears but I am having problems with filling out the form. I have reservations with Animal Kingdom Lodge, but that isn't a choice on the drop down menu. They have Animal Kingdom - Jambo and Animal Kingdom-Kidani, but no Animal Kingdom Lodge. (Aren't those both Villas...

    Airport assistance for 2 people?

Yes as others have said, it is totally doable. My friend and I who both need help sometime, and who travel together, have had two pushers at times. Also, we have been carted in a golf cart type of thing. Usually there is somewhere to mark that you will need wheelchair help when you purchase...

    Scooter Accessories

Yeah, actually I have to replace the battery every 3-4 years. I originally got it because I figured buying was cheaper than renting every time I went to Disney. Then I figured out I could start going to the State Fair again, going to museums again, going to the zoo again, etc. All things I...

    Scooter Accessories

This was originally posted in the main formum, but this is probably a better fit so moved it here. I have been using a scooter (Pride Gogo Elite Traveler Plus) occasionally for about 10 years, but my mobility has been decreasing. It had gotten a little worn looking and now that I am needing...

Sorry, this is probably a better fit for the community forum, so I have moved it there. I have been using a scooter (Pride Gogo Elite Traveler Plus) occasionally for about 10 years, but my mobility has been decreasing. It had gotten a little worn looking and now that I am needing to use it...

    Checking mobility scooter on plane

When I was considering purchasing my own first ECV, I happened to speak to an author at a SF Con who travels frequently with an ECV. She advised to ALWAYS gate check your ECV. Also, if you change planes, request your ECV be brought to you from the first plane and gate check again on the next...

DIS oldtimers (well newtimers too) where are you?

I was here quite frequently from 2010 to 2014, but trying to deal with FP+ & medical issues drove me away from Disney and DIS for a while. I just started back up again, planning a trip this year to celebrate retiring.

Slip Shorts/Biker Shorts Recommendations (Under Dresses)

I mostly wear jeans these days, and when I wear skirts, I wear them full and below-the-knee to mid-calf. I like pettipants as I don't like anything close fitting. But then, I grew up wearing cotton slips under everything until I got old enough to wear nylon slips.

    Beating the heat!

When I was last at WDW in 2014, we had cooling neck wraps. They had some kind of hydrophilic beads in a neck wrap. You soaked them in cold water until the beads swelled up and they stayed wet and cool for hours. When they started to dry out, you just soaked them again in a cup of ice water...

Disney has made 2 bad changes that most of you have probably not noticed!!!

Eh, it varies. In my experience, the cheaper the hotel room is, the more likely it is to have a fridge and microwave. Those rooms are being marketed to people on a budget, so they look for other relatively inexpensive ways to help you save. High end hotels tend not to have either one, unless...

    New DAS

I have been seeing a lot about the new DAS and just wanted to confirm something, since I have not been in quite a while. If you use a scooter, and don't really need other accomodations, you don't need a DAS. correct? I know that used to be the case, but it seems so much has changed.

    Wheelchair vs scooter

I second going to your local mobility store. Tell them what your problems are and ask their advice. There are a lot of mobility aids not available even a few years ago. Whatever they recommend, you can probably rent for a day or two to get the feel of it. Grocery store carts are NOT the same...

Animal Kingdom Lodge to Disney Springs

Thanks for everyone's advice. I wasn't sure from what I saw on the website if a bus went to Disney Springs or now, it's nice to know that it does.

United Airlines popcorn controversy: What sayeth the Dis?

One thing to bear in mind -- when the plane is in the air, the attendants primary duty is to serve the passengers, and to make sure they are all safe, not cleaning up your kids mess. When the plane is on the ground and the doors are open, the attendants are not getting paid. They have to be...

Animal Kingdom Lodge to Disney Springs

I am going to WDW in Sept after about 10 years absence. I will arrive on a Tues, early afternoon, at AKL with Wednesday my first day in the parks (always have to do MK the first day). I was thinking of going to Disney Springs for dinner on Tues, or maybe the Boardwalk (is Downtown Disney still...

    New Summer Offer available

Woohoo! I am going for 3 weeks, starting Sep 5. I know, I know, that's more than most people can do, but I am now retired, and I have not been to WDW for 10 years. This new discount will let me book POFQ for 2 weeks (max under discount), plus spend 1 week at AKL in a savannah view room for...
